Morning all.

A quicky before i go off and purchase a geforce GTX460.

I had been looking at the Gainward GTX 460GTH edition which is about £190 i think but someone in another thread suggest i pay a bit more and get a 470.

I like the look of the 460 because it's fast, cool and quiet but i don't really know what the 470 is. I thought it was a cut down 480 which is a noisy, hot overpriced beast.

So can someone advise is the 470 worth consideration?

Granted they get hot but no hotter than the previous generation and noisy they are not - cannot hear the fan at idle and can't say I really notice it in-game unless I've got the sound turned right down.

If you can get one under £220, and there are quite a few around now in this price bracket, it's definitely worth considering for the extra few quid over that 460GTH.

Thanks Marktime appreciate that.

It does show quite a difference but having just looked at prices of the 470 i think it's a bit out my price range, most seem to be about £250 and up.

I think i'll just have to settkle for the 460 which i think is still a good upgrade over my original 260.

^ the ASUS one is £229 and will be exactly the same as the others except they'll have different warranty lengths and/or a water block

Seen them under £210 now if you do a bit of research, got the Asus for £216 a week ago.

I got a POV 470 and definately pleased with it. It's a compromise between cost (if you ask me 480 is a ridiculous price) and quality, my 470 on its own maxes out Mafia 2, constant 60 FPS as long as I dont enable PhysX.

470 was a "duff" move because of the initial pricing, it was priced far higher than it should have been, now that its got down in price a lot its well worth the money.

Love my 470, upgraded from a 280 and cant be happier, nice perfomance increace and DX11 :)

Its actually smaller and quieter than the 280 which shocked me after all the reports of its noise etc

The 470 has around 100 more processing cores than a 460, and this makes a big differance

The 480 has around 50 more than a 470, and it about 15% faster, and 50% more expensive

The 460 is a good card, but if you move up to a 470 you get a fairly decent slug of extra go for the cash

It's IMO the best Nvidia card at the moment which is why i bought mine a 3 weeks ago, near 480 go, for near 460 price
