I am doing a red and black mod on a HAF932 and am looking for some fans to finish the job. I originally intended to use some Xigmatek fans but they were way too noisy even on a fan controller. I was planning on using Tealc's guide to add lots of LEDs to a fan as it looks awesome, but I think it will take too long, and will look bad on the top fan.

So then I saw these Phobya Nano-G fans on another build and they look amazing. However, according to the specs they spin at 1500RPM at 25Db. It is very difficult to compare the fans noise-wise as most companies lie about their rated noise.

I am looking to run them about 1000RPM, maybe less, but really I don't want to hear them unless I put my ear to it. So I need some help from other owners, especially if they can try this out for me on their own fan controller!

Cheers!

Pretty much any quality fan should be reasonably quiet at 1000rpm or less. The trouble you'll get is that clear type plastic simply makes more noise than solid plastic so you'll be compromising a touch here. Those blades are only semi-transparent so maybe they won't be too badly affected.

Why'd you think the top fan would look bad? Too big?

Not that it would be to big, I think the size will add to the effect! Just the angle I would be viewing it at, instead of seeing the beautiful LED showcase I will be seeing the wires/ insulation on the casing of the fan. I will be doing the mod to the front fan because that is too dull in my opinion.

Got a load of resistors and 3mm LEDs ready to go in!

There is a solid frame, LED PWM fan but it a lot more expensive:

That's why I wrapped insulation tape around one of mine. On a big fan like that and when using Red LEDs I'd be tempted to go up to 6 per side. That'd be one awesome 24 led fan.

looking forward to seeing the result!
