English League Football ** spoilers ** [17th - 21st September 2010]

Sunderland really unlucky to be behind at halt time, but they've probably had their chance.
 
I wish Song would swap with Wilshere, he really is useless going forwards and what he did the other weekend against Bolton is looking more and more a freak occurance.

Can't create anything and we're being penned in by sunderland. We need to build up some possession and start controlling this game. Song drop back, wilshere move forward, chamakh/kos keep up the work. Oh and when will you be turning up andrei?
 
I think it's gonna be another one of them ''you don't deserve to wear an arsenal shirt'' team-talks. It needs to be, we've been pretty poor.
 
Fantastic first half, really good to see teams go for it against Arsenal, all credit to Sunderland for a good performance so far. Arsenal's saving grace has been Sunderland complete lack of quality in the final third, they really don't have many ideas beyond throw it into the box, and Squilacci and Kos have coped excellently. For all of Sunderland's pressure, I can only remember one or two half chances, good to see Arsenal defend so rigidly.

There are positives beyond the obvious dodgy performance, Arsenal look more dangerous and incisive going forwards even though it's only been a few times, and it's important to stay steady in the post CL away games, they're very difficult and Chelsea and Man Utd struggle similarly. No mistakes from anybody is also re-assuring, and Almunia is still playing decent.

Also, Sunderland can't do that for 90 minutes, if Arsenal don't concede in the next 15, they'll have chances in the last 30 minutes as Sunderland will drop off, Arsenal are very dangerous against tired legs, as seen in the amount of late goals last season, it's no coincidence
 
One half down and we've lost Cesc and Song. Our two first team CMs. :/

Did note that Arshavin was getting more stuck in this time, covering space as well.

We're very lucky to get that Cesc goal, it means we can play counter attacking football. I'd like to see Denilson hang back and Wilshere to get going forward.

I'd be giving them a healthy dose of hairdryer. Apart from 2 or 3 players everyone has been dire. Oh and what is it with these American streams? They have to try and Americanise everything, even ENGLISH football... :p
 
I think people are being too harsh on Arsenal, they had a mid week game with the exact same side, Sunderland have had a week working on this game. You can't dominate every game, and it's important to defend well when you're not on your game, Arsenal have done that. It's a little bit harsh on Sunderland to just expect that Arsenal will be the better side, especially since they've been so good today

Speaking about defending I think Clichy has been **** so far today.
 
Performance feels like a real 'Champions League hangover' - we have not been a patch on the team that played in the week.

Wilshire had a fantastic game in the week, but he doesnt look like the same player today, he has dwelled on the ball far too often for my tastes. Clichy is really starting to telegraph his little turn to the right while facing my own goal thing, and it almost got us caught out again. I could go on, but we have just generally looked second best to everything, our best hope is that Sunderland can't keep this up for the second half. On the plus side, Kosielny and Squillaci have book looked solid, and Alumunia has dealt with things reasonably well.

Fingers crossed for a better performance second half, if we could end the game now I'd snatch you arms off for it.

lol im lovin some of these commercials. Don't enjoy them popping up half way up the screen when the match is on though!
 
Clichy made one mistake but has been solid, blocked a lot of crosses and made plenty of good headed clearances. He's been fine, Sunderland are directing a lot of play there because of the fast winger, but he hasn't really got into a good position once.
