New amazing CPU Cooler arrived in our warehouse today. Rich from our tech department is putting it through the grinder at the mo, benchmark info to follow shortly.

Prolimatech Super Mega CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1156/LGA1366) @ £59.98 inc VAT

HS-010-PL_400.jpg

Prolimatech's latest new high-end CPU air-cooler, the Super Mega is here. This cooler is based on the popular Megahalems dual fin-block tower design, except for a dash of copper fins sandwiched between aluminum fins. Measuring (L)130mm X (W)74mmX (H)158.7 mm, and weighing in at 945.3 g, the Super Mega uses six 6 mm thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes to convey heat to two independent aluminum-copper fin blocks, which make up the shape of a conventional tower cooler, but increase turbulence. The cooler can hold 120 mm and 140 mm fans on either sides, and supports all latest CPU sockets, including LGA1366, LGA1156, and LGA775.

- Copper and Aluminum Hybrid for best heat collection and dissipation ratio.
- Copper fins are strategically positioned for better heat dissipation.
- Top fin made of scratch-resistant stainless steel to preserve shine.
- Minimal air resistance between fins allowing best balance between noise and performance for fans in the range of 800-1200RPM. For all out performance, fan RPM at 1600 or above is recommended.
- Vertically adjustable 120/140 mm universal fan clips redesigned for better installation compatibility.
- The Black screws are included to provide extra pressure for better contact with CPU and heatsink.
- Heatsink Dimension: (L)130mm X (W)74mmX (H)158.7mm
- Heatsink Weight: 945.3g
- Heatpipe: Ø 6mm X 6pcs
- Suggest Fan: 120mm X 25mm ,140mm X25mm
- Suggest Fan Speed: 1000~1200rpm
- CPU Platform: Intel Socket LGA 775/1156/1366

Only £59.98 inc VAT.

That is no small heatsink. I dont know if its worth the upgrade from my Megahalems...what you think? I could get this with 2 140mm high airflow fans...

Mammoth cooler. Must say all this shiny metal temps me to go back to aircooling for it's sheer simplicity.

Does look nice, but im unsure as to wether this would fit on my board due to my reaper ram, currenty using a TRUE without issue.

Thats what im hoping w3bbo, im currently using dual viper 25mm depth fans on my TRUE, no issues with ram clearance even if i ever do feel the need for 12gb, which i doubt.

Not too bad as far as weight, could possibly bodge some kind of bracket to support it. Very seriously considering ordering one, if it doesnt fit i can aways return it.

Yep, seems that its a fair bit lighter than the DH14, well ive ordered it anyway, heres hoping that it fits.:D

Height isnt a problem, the prolimatech is actually 2mm shorter than the TRUE and its a fair few inches away from my side panel, (using a full tower lian li a70f), and its a lot less longer. My main concern is the width, the TRUE is 63.44mm, with a fan attached this extends it to 88.44mm, this gives me enough clearance for all ram slots. However, the prolimatech is 74mm wide, with a fan added this makes it 99mm altogether, could be a tight squeeze as my ram heatsinks are extremely high. (ocz reaper).

I would be worried about moving a computer with this much weight hanging off the motherboard and processor - is there anyway to support it from the case?

Setter, can you let us know how well your temps do with this? I am thinking about replacing my Megahalems if this is good enough.

Will do smeaney, if it fits, (hopefully). Ill do a comparison at stock/load with my current TRUE black, ill be using the same akasa viper push/pull config as i currently have.

Might have to get it with 2 of THESE.
18.1db@1000RPM giving 87CFM.
Currently got an apache pushing 57CFM at [email protected]...

So Apache and Prolimatech have published their testing conditions and you can therefore tell that those published airflow/noise specifications are valid?

None of the fan companies tell you how those numbers were gathered. Was the noise measured from 1cm or 100cm? Was the airflow in free air (Of course it was! that's the one thing you can always be sure of!)? What is the static air pressure of the fan? This actually matters and it's rarely published.

Sorry, but fans are sold with no standard over the specifications. You can't believe a word of them.

I understand you argument and I agree, but if they don't operate to what I believe to be what is quoted, I simply return the products. :D
