I'm a bit out of touch with the graphics cards, have been running the budget cards for the past two years. But recently got back into pc gaming, so would like a bit of a better card.
There's no point in me going crazy as I only have a c2duo e6600 at the moment, so looking for a card that's pretty decent but not overly expensive.

So I'm open to suggestions guys.

I'd say £150 is my max, who is currently better at the moment, ATI or Nvidia? The game of choice is League of Legends, but will more than likely get stuck into Starcraft 2 and COD4...

Using a 768mb gtx460 myself, upgraded from a 9800gt, love it. Couldnt be happier. It will serve you well. Was originally going for a 5770 when the gtx460s were about to launch and im so glad I changed my mind.

I'd wait a few weeks and see what the new 6xxx series from ATI look like. The first cards are going to be aimed against the 450\460 range.........

If ignoring HD6000 series that's not out yet, the current range would be GTX460 768MB for entry level, GTX460 1GB/5850 (if under £200)/GTX470 for mid-range; high end 5870/GTX480...not so much bang for bucks.

Really? Usually the flagship cards are the top end cards are they not? Sort of fly out of the block rather than canter. Unless ive missed something ofcourse.

LOL, people, what you recommend for C2D E6600 - GTX470 and possible second one in the future for SLI ?
I've read gaming needs: Starcraft2 and COD4. Similar games are quite fine with card like GTS250 1 GB, or HD 4850 1 GB which you can get for 40-50 quids used on popular auction website. New ones are not worth 80-90 pounds in any shop, I'd rather recommend snipping them on Ebay, if any (I've bought 9 months ago 2 GTSes 60 pounds each, brand new). For 80-90 you can buy GTX 216 216 core, or GTX 275 (I've seen even GTX 460 768 MB for 92 quids, used for 2 months) which are best bang for money in my opinion in your case.
GTX 460 and higher are really faster and offer the newest DX11 support, but unless you change your CPU for probably most recommended 4-cores CPU Q6600 (rev G0 plus o/c), GTX460 won't be used as much as it could have been; in such case I'd rather say it's great investment before you swap CPU as well.

yeah pretty much, the first cards out will be the top of the range, £300+ cards most likly

plus theres no idea when they are going to be out, or even how well they are going to perform.

still silly to wait and see if you only after a mid range card
