***Official Halo Reach Thread***

Well bugger, they shoulda told me that :p

So why no dual wield then?

Cause its a bit rubbish? Never was a fan if dual that if anything never felt right in halo games.

I 'm only on chapter 7 of the campaign but I am enjoying it. I love that it wants you to snipe a lot which brings back memories from the first and I actually like the characters.the special abilities are just pointless though and really forced.
As for the mp I haven't played a huge amount but its alright , nothing amazing so far.

The special abilities i like the drop armour. Best at last on normal difficulty, i have a feeling the AI will rush more on harder ones.

Just got disc read issue after completing the tip of the spear and now i cant go any further in single player campaign. Disc read issues when game is installed to hdd is taking the urine tbh.

said my last saved progress was nightfall, but that was mission 4, even though i am on mission 6?

Wont be sending in my xbox either, free to repair or not, will make do with watching videos to find out what happens and be content with MP.

Just tried my hdd, disc on my banned xbox and mission 6 loads up 1st time from disc, as install option gets removed when 360's get banned.

incompatible dvd drive and or firmware, cant be the drive itself, its only ever gets used to install games to hdd, then just gets checked when you start the game. notice quite a few reports of refurbed ones getting this disc read error, MS putting different firmware on refurbed models?

oh well, at least i can finally get cracking on with the solo campaign i guess

Infection, swordbase, Infection, swordbase, Infection, swordbase...

all my mates want to play is royal rumble, it find it horrible. much prefer team slayer.

Amazingly to the contrary for me! I loved swordbase in the beta, and in my 91 (!) games so far I haven't played a single swordbase! Madness, just shows the great variation in play now, admittedly sometimes to much.

I wish they'd shove all the CoD retards into their little freak corner and bundled SWAT & Snipers into its own exclusive playlist. I'm also sick of the idiots who keep choosing invasion slayer over the actual invasion gametype. Hurr me too stupid hurr me play slayer hurr where's my cod.

My second complaint: what on earth netcode are they using for firefight/campaign. If one of the players in the party has bad internet, we all suffer for it. It's absolutely horrible to 'skate' around on ice and having everything from aiming to firing delayed by a second. Ugh.

Sometimes it's great and smooth, but it happens too much where it feels like you're walking on ice and you're aiming with molasses all over you.

your abit wrong there, noble is a mix of II's and III's

the MC is a S-II

I think they alluded to that difference quite well in the story. As Jorge is very well mannered and respectful, a lot like Master Chief. The rest of Noble, the Spartan IIIs are a lot more cocky, especially when you see their relationship with Dr Halsey as a comparison, even though Carter is the most reserved, he still has a streak of disrespect for command.

iirc from the novels the Spartan II's were brought up from childhood by Halsey and enhanced, very few made it through the program intact. Spartan III are a more mass produced version slightly weaker and cheaper to put on the front lines.

I uploaded a 23 second vid and yet when i went onto bungie.net it said classified ( bungie pro ) i called it hammer time as it was a co-op campaign and i had a brutes hammer and jet pack

It's also mentioned in the books that Spartan IIIs are mostly those who were orphaned from a young age by the covenant and signed up for the program out of sheer vengeance. The augmentations they have exacerbates their emotions as a side effect hence the occasional bouts of insubordination.

There definitely was a large difference between the reserved single Spartan II and the rest of the team, which was pretty cool to see. Jorge is probably the character I like the most out of the Halo series. I think there was a more human side to him that we could see, than there was for the others.

pretty much yes, S-III had extra upgrades that were deemed not safe for the S-II, and technically they had different armor. either way Jorge was a single handed badass in this game, cant wait to get his voice for firefight :D

I agree with what a lot of people are saying here Reach just doesn't feel right and after playing the campaign for few hours I have found it to be very boring.

I don't like how Bungie has butchered the story so theres nothing left for a new studio to develop and the Spartans in Reach at awful im glad they get wiped out they are useless.

Go on I'm going to bite then, how exactly have they butchered it?

Weighing up the two very distinct halves of Reach, we can’t deny that we end up looking at it favourably. It’s a fun game and that can’t be denied, even though it’s clear that Bungie has desperately tried to reach for something beyond simple fun. 'Meaningful, dramatic, epic' – these are the targets that Bungie has aimed for. Sadly, nearly every shot has gone awry and the actual result is 'predictable, samey and repetitive.' The game is still very enjoyable, but only because Halo has always felt very good to play – while we have had fun with Reach, it’s not been anything more lasting than that.
