I've seen there is a similar thread just started about case fans but I am looking at getting an alternative to the ones found on the Collit Eco c240, just wondering what are the best ones for air pressure/flow through a radiator, I don't know how thick the rad is on this cooler model sorry. Just after the best fans in your experience.

Cheers

38mm fans are "better" as they have higher static pressure but some radiators perform "worse" with such fans. Couldn't comment on the Coolit radiator but if you can get them I would go with either the Panasonic 38mm x 120mm or the Sanyo Denki 38mm x 120mm.

Get a rheostat so that you can control their speed and then you will have fans that at your preferred noise level will still cool well.

Scythe Gentle Typhoons are the best fans for rads, there are quite a few different speeds you can buy them at.

Although I agree that if you can't find some San Ace fans, the GT's are great but it's too general to say they are the best for rads as there is no such thing.

You need to match your fan to your rad. If your rad has very high fin density and hence is restrictive air flow wise, you need a fan with high static pressure.

Some radiators are specifically designed to be operated with low rpm/low static pressure and these radiators do not benefit from high end fans.

So find the spec of your radiator or if not post it's dimensions and fins per inch and we'll go from there.

EDIT: Just found the rad is 27mm thick so quite thin and it does look quite low on the fins per inch so will be very unrestrictive.

Actually I think they all benefit from high speed fans if you can live with the noise.

And cfm or fan speed doesn't scale with the static pressure capabilities of a fan, there are plenty of fast fans with rubbish static pressure and slow fans with great static pressure.

I agree in terms of matching the rad to the fan but sometimes its not easy to do, e.g. swiftech rads often overlooked because they look skinny actually are pretty competitive.

What the OP hasn't said is whats his noise/performance threshold. Does he want to change the fans because he wants better cooling or does he want to change them because he wants quieter cooling? Or does he want both? The problem with the pre-built kits is that sometimes changing the fans doesn't help much, or not in the way that you expect.

From looking at reviews (The HardOCP one is great) you can actually benefit a lot by switching the Coolit's fans into push mode, and benefiit again by getting a couple of matching fans and making it push/pull.

Also how is the radiator setup in your machine? Vertically? Or Horizontally. That can have an affect on the fan reccomendation, e.g. I'd reccomend a Yate Loon setup for push/pull but if you have your radiator mounted horizontally then they aren't the best fans to orientate in that way.

.

You've heard my 5 San Ace 120mm x 38mm on full voltage then? :D

I once did a suicide vantage run at 4.9Ghz and 1100/1300 on my 5850 and whacked them all on full. I had to leave the room while vantage completed.
