HTC Desire HD (Ace)

dunno where you get your contracts from but in reality an affordable contract nowadays is £25 a month (inc data) and the days of 18 month contracts are well on their way out so would probably be 24months.

so works out about the same at the end of the day.

Mobiles.co.uk et al.

Even £30 a month over 18 months is £540, cheaper than getting sim free and simplicity. Add the cashback and it works out better.

I don't plan on spending more than £550 over the 18 months if I get the Desire HD, it's a pretty standard sort of price if you look around for most high end smartphones.

I'm due an upgrade now with Vodafone and am tempted by this phone. I only want a 12 month contract which I doubt Vodafone will give me. :(

I'm due an upgrade as of tomorrow on o2, was aiming to get the Desire, but knowing this might be round the corner I guess I would be mad not to wait? I'm desperate for a new phone though

I'm just waiting to see the contract deals on Voda and O2 before making my final decision. it'll definitely be the HD but at the moment I'm not sure if I want to buy it outright with a sim only deal or get it on contract. Until the contract deals come up its impossible to work out which is best!

Mobile phones Direct have contract prices out. Was looking over them a couple days ago. Considering replacing my N900 a few months before my contract is up.

I'm due an upgrade on Tmobile now.
Was just gonan grab a desire or a samsung and sell it...

Seeing this tho I really like the Z, wait for this and then sell on my old desire  grr

If you compare phone specs together i.e Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire HD you will find that the Samsung has the most up todate specs along with the lastest bluetooth. You would have thought that HTC would have inclueded these on the new phone.

Thinking of getting the Desire Z - due upgrade soon, and although I hate touchscreen phones as its hard to type on it (used iphone4 on weekend - writing a sms was so time consuming, it kept selecting the wrong letters, and no i dont have fat fingers :p), im feeling the Z as it has a keyboard!

Only thing is last smartphone I had was the HTC TYTN2 and that was a real pain as well, although that was Win Mob...but it was just way too heavy and chunky in pocket..

yeah I saw those moments after making my post!

my current options are:

300min, unlim txt, "unlimited" data from mobilephonesdirect for £30 a month for 24 months free phone. total cost £720

300min, unlim txt, "unlimited" data from Vodafone sim only at £15 a month for 12 months. total 2 year cost £830 (Phone at £470)

The contract route is £110 cheaper over the two years, but the sim only deal only lasts 12 months, so i could go elsewhere if i wanted without being tied to the deal. Its a conundrum.

Looks like you should move to Tmobile for a better deal.....

im never gonna get into a contract again, i would buy if you have the cash and then get on a flexi tariff. yes it's a big outlay, but you can upgrade when you want, and will be able to get half the cash back when you sell on ebay in 12 months

Anyone else confirm this?

You can do that anyway, nothing stopping you selling your contract phone, getting a new one and using the same contract. Essentially you get a free phone out of it every so often.:p
