If you do your shopping on foot and walk home, toilet roll, in the larger packs which are often a better deal are so big they will never go in a shopping bag. So you then have to walk down the street with all your shopping, clutching a big load of toilet roll under your arm... "Yup, that's right... I've got a big number 2 to do... lots of them!."

Sure everyone does them, but I think it's the remainder that it's the only reason you would be carrying it, so it makes you think of it. Much in the same way that tampons make most of us men uncomfortable because it reminds us of what their purpose is for.

I know what you're saying, but the thing is, everybody needs it, and more importantly, everybody uses it.
 
I chant "Gonna wipe my ass, doobe doo be dooo" and whistle while walking down the aisles with my 12 pack of Andrex like my ****'s on fire.
 
I think most people wipe their bottoms, so no.

I was in the check out in a tesco metro in the city behind a man in a mack who was buying only two packs of lard and two king size mars bars once. That caused me to chuckle.
 
For condoms I used to bulk-buy from Tescos, it seems less embarrassing just buying three big boxes and finding the shyest looking checkout jockey.
 
I hate buying toilet roll, especially in bulk. I feel like everyone is thinking I must have the squits.
 
That's not embarrassing in the slightest.

I've had 2 eyebrow raising shopping baskets;

1) 2kg tub of cheap margarine, large roll of cling film and 2 pairs of marigolds
2) 10+ bags of marshmallows and 3 tubs of vaseline.

Both had very specific non perverted justifications.
 
When buying toilet paper I try to absolve any awkwardness by making a comment such as, "That's the last time I'll eat a vindaloo for a while". It never works.
