Well ive just moved into my my new flat and ive got all these connections behind my TV. Could someone verify the un-labbled connection in this photo for me please? Iam not sure why the three connections are all labbled up and one isnt, and iam wondering if its for cable TV/internet.

Hmmm, thats kinda good and bad since ive just signed up for talktalk broadband and phone :o

Any idea how I can check?

On the VM site I put in my postcode and it comes back with this...

You're not in a fibre optic area, but you can still get our brilliant broadband down your phone line.

With Virgin Broadband you can get the fastest broadband we can deliver down your phone line, up to 20Mb. Then, you can simply add any extras you want, including home phone.
Take your pick

Is it possible then to get Virgin TV and Virgin broadband from the same connection if you get me?

Follow the cable and see where it goes?

Do you have a cable box on the front of your house?

Do you have a satalite dish anywhere?
its not a back feed for sending the tv singal to other rooms is it ? isnt cable fibre optic like an optical lead for sound ?
It's only fiber up to just outside the house. Inside they use satellite grade coax cable like you see in the picture.

Living in a flat, ive not noticed a cable box...will check tomorrow. Yup we have a dish and most people have got Sky but Iam intending to use freesat HD instead from the dish which I understand is possible?

Thanks for the advice

The square plate with the 3 sockets is a multiplexed downfeed (carrying satelite, terestrial TV and FM/DAB radio signals down a single coax) the unlabled plate is a coax cable terminated in a female F connector. What is it for ? It could either be a return loop for distribution of an RF feed to another room / distribution amplifier. OR I would guess it is second downfeed from an LNB (or similar) to allow for Sky+ / Sky+HD

Ok thanks, you seem to know your stuff! Well I know you can definatly get Sky...so yeah that might explain the connection in question. You 100% sure it's not for cable TV/Internet tho? The only other TV point(well I think it's for a TV) is in my room. But the connection seems to be the opposite of the TV connection in the lounge as its an open circle connection.

Also what setup would people suggest?
