First off would like to say a very big thankyou to everyone for the advice over the past couple of months, has really really helped a lot! :)

Just finished my first ever build, and ironically i was stuck on the megahalems for about 2-3 hours.. i really couldnt figure out how the clips held the fans on in push/pull config, resorted to using cable ties but it isnt the most secure fitting.

As the instructions are very poor could someone please tell me how its meant to be done? :\

Although getting incredible results from the megahalems in push/pull in a coolermaster HAF X case, idles at 20 and full load at 26 according to AMD overdrive.

But again though thankyou all so much for the advice I really do appreciate it :)

Congratulations on finishing your first build. Now if you are like 90% of the people on this forum you are thinking - Hmmmm what else can I add :P What was the final spec in the end?

Also, as I found out couple days ago - amd overdrive reads the individual temps not the cpu temp, with the cpu temp seemingly about 10C hotter. I am sure someone better than I will explain the difference.

I used cable ties to hold my fan on my TRUE, any pics.

Unfortunately, yes i am thinking what else i can add... its so addictive sigh... lol

Final spec in the end was:

Coolermaster HAF X case (Absolutely Love this case)
OCZ 2E 120GB Vertex SSD
2x Samsung F4 2TB HDD
Crosshair IV Formula Mobo
AMD Phenom II x6 1090T
Megahalems w/ 2x 120mm Asaka Viper Fans
1000W Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold
HIS Radeon HD5970
8GB Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz
LG DVD RW

Fallen in love with it. The thing that suprises me the most though is the SSD, jesus christ Light has a hard time keeping up... lol

I noted you used a megahalems which you are asking for help on.

Whilst you're waiting for an answer, can I ask a couple of questions since I'm looking at buying one.

I believe the unit only comes with one fan.
Can you confirm, if you noticed which make - model it was and how quiet it is.

Also, and I hardly dare ask this, do you need one clip or two to attach each fan.

You can buy the clips separately but assuming I only get one fan with mine I may need one or two clips.

Apologies for not being able to help but it is almost on topic.
 
RJC: I didnt think about using the cable ties like that (kinda wish i did tho) i looped them in the fan screw hole and the little end clip bit.

Marse: The megahalems Rev B comes with NO fans but i can highly recommend the asaka viper fans, they really shift the air. The Rev B also comes with all the clips included and it uses 2 clips on each fan. Its just a pain to install it but i may have been doing it wrong. But as for the performance, I cant fault the setup its incredible.

*EDIT*

The megahalems comes with 2 sets of clips so comes with 4 so enough for a push/pull config.

Congratulations on the build - hope it serves your uses well :)

As for the megahalems, this is how I installed the clips - they hold the fan tight and are pretty easy to clip on. (I had to bend the bottom bit of the clip so it would fit with the RAM's massive heatsinks)

I believe the megahalems revision B comes with two sets of fan clips for two standard 120mm fans (for a push-pull configuration). Hopefully the OP will be able to confirm it.
 
lol... i didnt even think of trying to fit them like that, was using pliers to try and bend them in different ways.. then ended up using cable ties... well il fix that in the morning. Thanks cmndr :)

It's fun like a survival horror game. Exciting when you get the bits delivered, tense when you put them all together, and blessed relief when you power it on for the first time and it all works. :D

Congrats on your first build! Now if anyone asks where you got your PC from you can tell them you built it yourself for extra amazement and kudos. :cool:
 
Ravenger: Hell yeah! lol Although il personally disagree with you when it comes to the putting together part; I love building things whether its just furniture, little models, PC's, wiring of my desk. Makes me wonder why i didnt choose a degree in architecture.. haha

Il be getting some pics up once ive fixed this megahalems problem and done a bit more cable management :)

Just to note.

Overdrive doesn't read the temps right for your CPU.

You will need to use HWmonitor to get accurate temp readings.

It will either be listed as CPUTemp, TMPIN0, or TMPIN1.

The 'Core' temps read by Overdrive (and also listed in HWmonitor) are fake, and are usually about 10C lower than actual temps. :)
 
Hey man, I have also got a HAF X but W/C setup, link in my sig.

I'm intrigued, what's the fan setup like in your case?

Mine's:
230mm standard intake fan
200m sidepanel intake fan
120mm back fan exhausting
3 120mm fans intaking on my triple rad.

Ideally, the fans on my radiator should be exhausting, and possibly switch the back exhaust to 140mm. I know this isn't the best setup, but just intrigued as to how you have yours, and in what config.

would have loved to learn about watercooling and do it but it does add quite a bit on and also as this is my first build i figured il leave it for now until next time :D

Im assuming this case can handle watercooling more then fine?

Yes it really can :) Awesome case for watercooling, so if you ever do decide, no need for a case change!

Can fit a triple radiator in the top, and a single on the back, so more than enough for your average loop
