So 2 months ago my oil light came on, no problem, got it filled up and carried on as usual. Yesturday my oil light came on again! Its not like the car has been driven lots in that time aswell! (maybe 300Miles or so?) But is has managed to go from the max line on dipstick to the minimum! Its not like it has lots of mileage on the engine aswell, only 41k miles! (although it is a 10 year old car!)

I have not noticed any performance problems, no noise, no smoke, no visable leaks.

Any ideas?

big leak on the driveway?

warning light is normally well beyond min on the stick lol

not really true, it depends whether he means level low warning light or the low pressure oil light, see the first one you need to top up, see the second and you might as well say bye bye to your engine :P

most recent cas have a low oil level light

Start the car and get someone to stick a hand behind the exhaust while you give it some throttle. Other half's Punto had a taste for oil, no smoke, no leaks and drove normally. However stick your hand behind the exhaust and the oil was quite visible on your hands and the floor once I had noticed it.

have you had it serviced somewhere different to where you normally use ?

Wondering if somebody has filled it with oil that is too thin and its getting burnt off during combustion by slipping past.
