I'm waiting for the 6 series... because it usually follows that the 5 series cuts in price, so I can double up my 5850 for half the price

No official release date has been confirmed but as others have stated, I would expect to see something interesting (highend) before the end of the year.

I don’t know how to break this to you but it’s very unlikely you will be getting half price HD5850’s brand new, OCUk’s have said these cards are still selling like hot cakes hence why they cost the same now as they did when they came out a year ago. If you have customers who are willing to pay £200 for a HD5850 why would I want to want to start selling it at £100 all of the sudden?

Supposed to come with a new UVD processor so should have some multimedia improvements.

Current games like Metro 2033 kills ati cards on max settings.

Pretty such Metro 2033 kills Nvidia cards at max settings too.

Metro really does work gpu's hard which is not surprising as it looks stunning.

However you can max out metro with 2 overclocked 480's @ 1080p. One overclocked 480 will let you max out metro with over 30fps which allot of people find playable.

Basically there are a few games out there that still need more power and every advance in gpu power is always welcomed. More powerful gpu's will also help those that are gaming at 2560x1600 and multi display users.

Hopefully the new 6000 series should allow better frames with higher levels of AA and tessellation. I would be shocked if it didnt.



As for Crysis not being a great game, its been the benchmark for first person shooters for years. Love it or hate it Crysis has set allot of milestones and is a visually stunning game.
