i love my vauxhall its a 99 corsa b, never broke down yet!
I'd rather have an old A reg nova then a focus.
The Astra hate club on here is a bit silly reallyNo they aren't particularly quick or fun to drive but they are solid and reliable and cheaper to buy than an equivilent focus. Depends what you want a car for really. Cheap and reliable, the Astra is a decent second hand buy in the 3-5k price bracket. No way i'd buy a new one though! Oh and people who own something like an S2000, well of course an Astra is going to feel a bit rubbish after driving your car

The MK1 1.4 Focus had a weedy 75hp.
The Astra 1.7DTI has 73hp.
no_1_dave: How can one be 'much nippier' than the other when they are a very similar car.
Drive them both and you'll see.
There is a HUGE difference in actual power at the wheels/0-60/speed
Yet both yield identical 0-60 times so both are identically slow. Fooled by diesel torque much?
