Gothic 4 - Arcania : A Gothic Tale

Sys Requirements

Processor Min: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X4 2.2Ghz (or Tri-core like AMD Phenom X3)
Ram Min: 3GB
Video Card for minimum playability: Geforce 8800 GTX / ATI HD 2600 Pro
Video Card for best results: Geforce 280 GTX / ATI HD 4800 or higher

Core 2 Duo are out of luck as are anyone less than 3GB ;)

Better be amazing if it actually NEEDS 4 cores to run at all. Wander if amd and Intel have been involved in any sponsorship /tinfoil hat

More likely unoptimized coding ;)

It does look good though - hopefully they can revive the series after a shoddy effort with 3. It just didn't ever feel right.

Soooo looking forward to this - been playing since Gothic 2 and loved them all - I think part of the appeal was the fact that they did things differently, which some people found 'inaccessible' - things like the lack of a map in Gothic 2 - I loved the fact that you actually got to know the terrain, and could recognise landmarks from mile away, rather than blindly following a blip on your mini-map or slavishly following a quest arrow. Same goes for the combat - especially in Gothic 2 - I loved the fact that you got better at fighting, rather than your character, you learned how to time the blocks and counters to take out enemies far more powerful than yourself.

It was a shame that the uniqueness of the games alienated so many casual gamers, and has forced them to change - hopefully some of their off-beat flare will still be there in 4. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it does need a Quad - they have always been 'cutting-edge' but in quirky ways - the stuttering in 3 was down to the fact that there was no 'loading' in levels, something that was almost unique at the time - and I thought revolutionary - it actually needed a decent raid to get it flowing seamlessly, which was brave!

Hope the new one does the series proud - will be getting it as soon as it comes out. :)

DreamCatcher Games and JoWooD Entertainment say we can expect both PC and Xbox 360 playable demos for ArcaniA: Gothic 4 on September 24. Word is: "The demo comprises the first two hours of the game and shows the beginning tutorial level on Feshyr Island featuring selected quests. Fight off demons, hone your skills and prepare for a bloody battle fueled by vengeance.

2hr demo sept 24th :D

About optimizing hard to say something good, but there would be clinging to a crime - it's still a beta version, which supposedly is still improved.
On my home equipment (Core 2 Duo 3 GHz, 4 GB RAM, GeForce 9800 GT) could not be comfortable to play. Arcania frame was lost as a result, animation was very torn, regardless of graphics settings.
Dokładnie ten sam efekt można zaobserwować na filmach prezentujących polskie dialogi, które kilka dni temu udostępnił CD Projekt.
Exactly the same effect can be seen in films featuring Polish dialogue, which a few days ago released CD project.
From reading this badly translated website :P , it seems like don't get your hopes up on being a true gothic.

- no trainers, teachers whatsoever (after each level you get 3 skill points you have to spend on 8 different skills)
- no sleeping and beds
- no theft skills - only stupid minigames to open chest
- NPCs don't act when you sneak around their houses
- you can't kill random NPCs (civilians etc)
- almost zero interaction
- combat is basically smashing left mouse button
- beta performance was bad on Core 2 Duo 3 GHz, 4 GB RAM, GeForce 9800 GT

No supprise there  , hopefully it's just because it's beta

The game is going to be terribly optimised for PC in that case. Steer clear.

crazy requirements but the game sure does look nice especially with the medieval setting. Hope theres a demo in the works

Immediate buy for me.

Gothic 2 + 3 were among the most immersive and amazing RPG experiences I have played on the PC.

I much preferred them over Oblivion too.

The music tracks in Gothic III were absolute masterpieces too:

I've been waiting for an RPG with graphics this good since Oblivion. Nice to finally have one.
