Will be available in stores in 2 weeks.

£749 with student discount / £899 without

This competes nicely with Dells u2711.

H-IPS panel with glass screen (which i prefer to the AntiGlare coating on the u2711).

I use a 24" Cinema Display at work (PC) with a 4870 & one of these cables: http://estore.circuitassembly.com/p...Female-to-Displayport-Male-Adapter-Cable.html

I'm definately buying one (would much rather spend money on monitors than computer parts - its the most important bit IMO).

It's not just for Macs!
Also, FYI - brightness can be changed on a windows PC if you install bootcamp drivers.

It's an Apple LED Cinema Display, too - that's quite an impressive price actually. And it isn't just student discount is it - academic staff too I believe. Might look into this for one of my designer kitchen PCs ;) Only thing I would be worried about is the responsiveness (or lack thereof).

It's excellent on my 24 ACD - plays call of duty with no ghosting at all.
There's very little processing done - no OSD helps too!

Well the lack of processing would be worrying to me. I know the ISO response time is 12ms but do you know what the grey to grey is? And input lag (from what you say probably nothing to worry about)? I have to say I wish Apple wouldn't be so tight with who they offer monitors to for review.

As a sidenote I'm currently reviewing the U2211H which is a little on the sluggish side. Not too bad really, but it is nothing to do with input lag it is certainly a response time issue. It is quoted as 8ms grey to grey and I notice the trailing more than on the U2410 which had more aggressive overdrive. I think the lack of RTC processing on the new Apple could potentially be its downfall - but that's just speculation.

I had a bit about it here http://www.pcmonitors.org/news/apple-set-to-launch-27-inch-led-cinema-display

Apple don't publish the g2g, but if its anything like the 24" it's nothing to worry about.

Rumour is that the panel is the same as the 27" imac - which is a very nice screen (won't know for sure until reviews though). Apple advertise the imacs for gaming so it can't be bad.

So i can assume that this monitor will work on a Windows PC straight out of the box??

it will work with a graphics card with displayport and a female mini displayport cable. ati 5x series are the exception to this since the cable doesnt work
with them

It will also work with any graphics card with mini displayport, E.g. 5870 eyefinity6

I would suggest a 4870 and adapter cable (100 quid) or palit 470 (220 quid) if youre getting a gfx card for this monitor. A gt120 can be had for much less if games arent a priority.

Hi there,

I'm interested in buying one of these monitors for my Windows pc. I've already got a 27" i5 mac and its probably the best screen I have seen and the fact thats it's glossy makes it perfect in my mind.

I have a Ati XFX 5970BE which I believe has a mini display port (the middle one out of the three ports) so connecting this monitor up should not be a problem I think as the monitor is supplied with a male to male mini display port cable.

One question . . .

I think going by the link below there will no brightness control of the backlight running on a normal pc. So does this mean that it will be set on maximum brightness only? If yes this is not a problem for me as that is what I would set it to anyway. http://www.anandtech.com/print/3946

If anyone could confirm the questions I have I would appreciate it as I will be looking to buy very soon.

:)
