I'm afraid you're probably right - I just hope women get stronger and don't listen to the hype and just stay at a healthy way of living the way that they're bodies were designed.

Agreed - stunning. I do like also the more "known" entities, like Salma Hayek, Monica Bellucci to name but a couple.
 
I really hate when people use the word curvy to mean fat. Curvy means there's a marked difference in waist measurement compared with hips and chest. I have an hourglass figure and had very obvious curves even when I was a size 6.

Tyra made a very good point on this subject.

Men can be any size - they can thin, they can be fat, they can be muscly, they can tall, all sorts of different bodyshapes that women can find appealing.

Big men can feel strong and reassuring to a woman, fat men can be cuddly etc..

Women on the other hand, cant be. Muscly women ? no too freaky looking. Big women ? well we've seen it in here, they're "fatties", whales, fog monsters, disgusting slobs, lazy, smelly, a mess etc.. and all the other stuff that gets thrown around in this thread.

Tall women make a lot of men feel inadequate.

Men dont have to conform to a stereotype, women on the other hand, seemingly do ...

Sorry mate, that is too much. She is massive. Erughh :( (And no, i am not a hater of curvier women, i actually like a little bit of weight)
 
It is interesting how perceptions of beauty changes. In the 17th and 18th Centuries, Rubenesque women were seen as beautiful. In Victorian times, fashion, such as the Corset gave rise to hourglass figures and a slow slide towards tiny waists.

1920's gave rise to the boyish 'Flapper' girls, who had hardly any curves.

The 40's and 50's were the eras of some very curvey women - Jane Mansfield etc., the 1960's gave rise to slim women (reflecting the 1920's style) with models such as Twiggy.

The 1970's and 80's saw models with curves again, whilst the 2000's saw them painfully thin.

Today we're heading back towards the curvier figures, which as long as they've not got rolls like the Mitchelin man is far healthier.

It seems that womens shapes are dictated to far more by fashion and the media than men and they should stand firm against it. Stick like anorexic figures aren't pretty.

Yup im 5'11 and even a woman at 5'10 is still too tall for me:p....but then i do like my women slightly shorter than me...not midgets or anything...i have a cousin whos 5'10 and hes been dating his gf for about 3 yrs now and shes 6'0...6'3 with her heels and she towers above him...he likes it though as she has a stunning set of legs on her.

Sadly you can blame the media, modelling world for that ie pushing the image that women need to be size zero.

Yes but her with the body bling is missing the upper attributes, you need a happy medium.
 
They look fairly capable enough to me from that picture, sure they're no Salma Hayek but they're not ones to sniff at!

Its a deceptive picture, they could be flattened out by the top, but im not holding my breath, they look like B cups to me im afraid.
 
My girlfriend is a size 10 with an hourglass shape so obviously very curvy hips and big boobs.

Do you mean curvy by actual curves like the above or fat women? I hate when fat women refer themselves as curvy, curves are not fat rolls.

I think it's a bit simplistic if the suggestion is that it's mainly down to men that women feel they've got to conform to a particular bodytype to be beautiful. Sure there are some men who are just plain unpleasant about women who don't match their ideals, misogynistic in a way but women can be just as harsh or even worse in their judgements and in some ways less restrained when passing comment. There are accepting men as well as accepting women in relation to beauty - there's lots of people that I'll never find attractive but I'm sure someone does and I'm rather grateful for the diversity in the World that allows it to be the case.

It strikes me that the World might be a rather nicer place if we all took a second to think about the comments we make regarding other people, whether that be in relation to physical appearance or some other aspect of their person.

In relation to the original question - it depends on the woman, some look beautiful at size 6, some look beautiful at size 16 (or possibly more). However attraction isn't always just based on looks, it's a good starting point and can occasionally be the sole decider but it seems unlikely to make for a lasting relationship if that's a goal. What do I know though, I'm single.
