Job Interview at ITV Sport. Help please :)

You really will fit right in with ITV sport, they know nowt about football as well. ;)

You missed a perfect opportunity to say that you would have given Robbie Earle a medal rather than the sack during the WC and also that Andy Townsend shouldn't be near a studio as a pundit.

Good luck though :)

Why is the original post full of Formula 1 stuff - ITV don't have it at the moment

They cover it in extensive detail on their website.

Thanks a lot Robbie! I guess you're right but we'll see! They said they would be in touch today or tomorrow. To be honest, I will be very upset if I don't get it but that's the outcome I have to prepare myself for. :(

Best of luck with this one chum :)

Thanks. :)

Thank you for attending the ITV Sports Internship interview on Tuesday 21st September, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and get the opportunity to get to know you a little better.

The standards of the candidates that we interviewed on the day were of a very high standard and you’ll be please to know that you contributed to setting the benchmark to which everyone had to reach.

During the Interview, you displayed all the attributes and skillset that we are looking for in a applicant, and it was extremely difficult for NAME and I to make a clear distinction as to who we should award the opportunity to, it is with regret that on this occasion we have decided to go with another candidate based on their experience.

Should you wish to obtain some feedback in relation to your interview please feel free to contact me and I will happily forward this onto you, (NAME) was also keen for you to have his contact details and hopes that you will stay in touch for future opportunities within his department. (E-MAIL ADDRESS)

:(

Didn't get it! But the contact I've been given is the director of ITV Sport so I'm going to send him an e-mail first thing tomorrow.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Better luck next time my friend.

Getting work experience can almost be as difficult as landing the actual job. I've experienced dozens of rejections, as have most people.

And yes, easily the nicest let down I have ever seen. Perhaps email back and say you would gladly participate in voluntary work experience?

Director of ITV wrote back to me with the most extensive, helpful and friendly e-mail. He's said I'm welcome to e-mail him at any time and to keep my eyes peeled for the next internship scheme :)

Didn't get a job out of the procedure but learned a lot!

Hard luck, to be fair when I read your OP I did think some of the criticisms raised were valid in that it was almost like a round of mastermind than a technique for an interview. While it's good to show an interest and subject knowledge maybe you could do with focusing on your core competencies and determining how you are going to show them what you can bring to the table for next time?

Still it sounds like you did pretty well to be fair so well done.

good luck with future applications.

to be fair to the OP however one section of the interview was basically just like the sport section out of your local pub quiz !

Not the ideal result but very good experience for you; be sure to utilise your new contacts!

I was in the final two for an interview ~8 months ago, eventually losing out to the other as they had worked for the company previously. I was disappointed but kept in touch, only to find a job offer in my inbox 3 weeks later :)

Sorry to hear you didn't get it in the end, but there's so much positivity to take from the last week or so :)
