Wheel / Tyre Dilema

Instead of arguing....Lets help me buy some Rainsport 2's fitted at the cheapest possible price, then suggest some winter tyres to be fitted mid october. That Ok?

Mate by the time you GET the tyres it will BE mid october! If you're going to get winter tyres get them now :)

I like Dunlop SP Wintersport 3Ds

Point taken.

Interesting quandry though: Mytyres.co.uk are quoting £103.70 fully fitted for 225/45 ZR17 94Y XL with raised rim rib. Blackcircles are charging £94.31 fully fitted for 225/45 R17 W (91). Are they the same tyre? I'm very confused

:D

Camskill? Not sure about speed ratings tbh, but how fast are some people planning to go?

Can't tell anymore differences between the tyres you posted. Makes me happy to have 15s and be able to get great tyres for 50 a corner.

Had a look at Camskill actually Ad, but they are on back order for Rainsport 2's and won't get any in for a month sadly. About £10 cheaper a corner at Camskill, but no fitting obviously. Defo with you on the speed ratings though! I feel it may be worth a poll on: do you change to winter tyres; and if so, what make/ model etc...

No, different speed ratings and MyTyres is selling you the XL tyre, which has a stronger sidewall. Generally, XL tyres feel better on the car if you like to drive, non-XL are a little more comfortable (but always go for what the manufacturer recommends)

The rainsport 2's in 225/45 17 are cheaper at tyretraders AND tyremen over camskill. Perhaps one of them have stock: http://www.tyrepricebuster.co.uk/Cheapest_197_225-45-17-_Uniroyal-Rainsport-2-tyre-price.html

As mentioned above... larger wheels mean less sidewall and rougher ride, or so i think!

Do you lot think ill feel difference going from 195/50/15 to 195/55/15?

What's your objective for the change?

You could probably find a bigger difference moving between models of tyres in the same size than you would giving yourself 10mm less/more sidewall in the same model of tyre.

Well 195/55/15 should be on the car, but i have been sticking to 195/50/15 as the car had them when i got it :)

Just wondered if the extra 5 would make any difference!

You'll probably notice your speedo is a little more accurate :) The ride might be a little softer / steering a little less precise but as I said above, you'll more likely notice more due to the tyre change rather than the profile change.
