Who should be leader of the Labour party?

Perhaps it is more a case of a thread with quite a few people who think Labour failed miserably as a government ? They did drop 5 million votes since 1997 and about 4 million of them at the last election.

Ed Balls. Simply because (and God forbid)if Labour win the next election, we'll have Prime Minister Balls. Plus, as a bonus, if he goes on an official state visit to China and tours the Great Wall, we can refer to the incident as "Balls to the Wall". :D

Actually look at the Millibands. They look ridiculous. Can't imagine either of them being PM.
I would have said the same, were it not for David Cameron being our current prime minister. I can easily see David Miliband as prime minister, since I still can't see David Cameron as it. :p

I'll never forget Cameron's first PMQs... Thank goodness he got rid of that quiff. :o

ok then, how many did they gain in 92 and 97?

They gained 3.6% in 1992, but is was mostly from the lib dems, not the conservatives, and they were still some 3 million votes behind the Tories. The bias in the electoral system was evident even then.

In 1997, they gained 8.6%, the Tories lost 11.2%, but the tories still didn't drop to the level of support Labour recieved in the 2010 election (30.7% against 29.0%), which just goes to show how biased the electoral system currently is and the need for boundary restructuring, given the difference in won seats (165 vs 258).

I want a national vote where only the top 2 parties get a share of the seats proportional to the number of votes.

No more hung parliaments.
No more moaning about strongholds and boundaries.
Clegg won't like it though.

I know that the majority of Labour supporters are stupid and their members narrow minded, so I put a bet on Ed "Opposes £34bn of cuts and makes £28bn commitments" Milliband long ago, and it looks like I'll be quite flush tonight.

After reading Tony Blair's book, I increased my stake on Ed, too. He was so right about the demise of the party after he was weakened and crippled by Gordon Brown's lot.

That post just sums you up perfectly.

Can't be anyone left on this forum that takes you seriously now.
This is GD, I'm free to troll :D

But those were my genuine reasons for betting on MilliEd - can't trust the party to be sensible, realistic or live in the real world :) If I could, I'd have bet on MilliDave (having said that, I hedged the bet on MilliDave a couple of hours ago so I don't lose any money).

I've got nothing against betting but posting...

... is nothing short of embarrassing.
