Issues parking outside our house...

It's hard to say without seeing it but I would have thought that if the street has more cars than spaces then whoever gets there last should just go and park round the corner or somewhere else. If someone wants to park right outside your house, as long as they aren't blocking your drive and they have road tax, then they can.

Sounds like a game of musical chairs:o

You're blocking someone in, end of discussion.
Also 5 minutes is a lot of time to them if they've planned to leave at that time. (They could have asked earlier, however)

If it's a publicly maintained street then it's open season unless I'm blocking a recognised access to private property. I can come and park outside your house as long as I've got valid road tax and you can't do a thing about it.

Off-road parking or a residents car park is a different matter entirely.

Why are you blocking people in? I would be annoyed having to go to your door just to get out too.

Also 5 minutes to wash your hands? Do you wash them to surgeon quality or something?

I'm sorry OP but I completely agree with both points above. Are you parking where you do just because it's closer to your house? I wouldn't even do that to my next door neighbour who I know fairly well as...wel...it's just hassle really. Sometimes I leave the house and have to be up the road in 3 minutes, not set off in 5 when you are ready to come out and move it. Just a thought. I don't know what you expect from people...to be happy you blocked them in? Just park elsewhere.

Unless it is private/allocated parking then you don't have the right to park there just because it is outside your house. If there is not enough space then park somewhere else.

I like the way everyones presuming i've actually gone out of my way to physically block them in, I haven't.

Their house is in a corner, ours is next to it, then theres another one.

Knew I'd get the usual GD response so nevermind.

It sounds of though whoever parks last is causing this to happen. If your nextdoor neighbour is parked 30% infront of your house and 70% infront of theirs and you then park right infront of your house so you are up to their bumber then you are blocking them in. Presuimg there is another car parked the other side of their car.

Explain it better then. If you parked there first and at the time their car was not parked, then you are at no fault and she would have to find somewhere else to park.

If she was already parked and you managed to squeeze in but left her blocked, then you are at fault.

I like the way you're ignoring everyones requests for more information / pictures, but still expecting us to defend you with no evidence...

You are not communicating the issue clearly. You are familar with the surroundings, everyone else (unless by a million to one chance I live on your street) is not.

If it was just a rant then the thread stops here, otherwise if you really do want a little impartial advice then a diagram etc would be helpful.
