+1 for tri core, at just tenner more you can't go wrong with it.

And if you ever decide that you want more power in the future you can just pop a full phenom II quad or x6 in there !

Or if you are lucky enough you've got a Quard core with a core locked off usually because its broken/unstable but AMD retailed it as a Tri Core. If you unlock the 4th core and its stable Boom Quad core for the price of a Tri core ;)

I never used to like Tri cores, but at £60 thats a great deal for one compared to a Quad.

Is the Athlon much slower than the Phenom though?

for general web browsing and office, then take a look for some 2gig ram kits to save money. Some budget crucial stuff (i forget the name...) should be £35-40. Id stick with dual core unless theres going to be more demanding things involved.

If you really want to cut back on the £££ then you could go for a smaller hard drive, but 500GB seems to be the sweetspot at the moment for £/Gb

Thanks for the help guys, a tri core does look good for the price indeed, luckly i dont need a monitor, keyboard and mouse as i already have one, i also have a spare 320gb sata II HD which will do the trick for whats its going to be used for. I do need to get a copy of windows cant believe how much its gone up tho! i paid £70 for home premium when it 1st came out.

Do you think home premium would be the way to go?
