I don't really see an admission there from him, but rather a claim that it wasn't their fault, but Fermi was too advanced for TSMC.
Seemed to me there was a break down in communication the two teams that were working on it in as much as they weren't sure who's job it was to make sure that the interconnect paths could allow simultaneous communication with the SM's and memory.
He says "two different organisations" at 3:36. I'd be more inclined to believe "organisations" was referring to different companies, rather than departments.
I dont think you guys have watched the video, he is clearly talking about 2 departments within Nvidia.
If I hadn't watched the video, how would I know he says organisations? I think that it's not very clear at all what he's talking about, but the fact that he's saying "organisations" and talking about engineers from different organisations, then about having to fix their design so that it worked for it, says to me he's talking about TSMC.
But the other thing is, it has absolutely nothing to do with TSMC, the design of Fermi. TSMC will give them the design rules for the process (things like size and shapes of transistors), the actual functional design is 100% Nvidia's responsibility.just remember that the written article is only that reporters interpretation of the interview.
