Going to order the Coolermaster Storm Scout case on monday but was wondering if the V8 cooler will fit inside ?

Also if anybody else is running the V8 with the scout could you possibly post a picture of how visible the cooler is through the side window ? Just wondering what it will look like once it's all up and running :)

Hi there, can I strongly suggest you don't go for the V8 (unless you are getting it on some amazing deal) as for its price it is not a particularly good cooler. You would be far better with something like a Prolimatech Megahalems (plus a good fan like this) or a Titan Fenrir Evo.

As for fitting in the Storm Scout case, it will fit a TRUE - so these other coolers will be fine.

V8 isn't too bad for the price - tho you do need a fan mod to really make the best of it unles your just looking for a quiet capable cooler.

What would you do to "mod" the fan ? Replace it with something else ? I've found it to be a really good cooler from stock. I was using a stock AMD Phenom II cooler before and apart from sounding like a chainsaw I was getting idle temps of around 47 degrees. After fitting the V8 I am now getting idle temps of 34 degrees at the fans quietest setting and 30 degrees at full speed.

Lol, yea I think that classes as an amazing deal.

Looking at this thread (pic at bottom of page) the V8 does fit in this case, but the poster does say "Looks like that V8 just barely fit in the case" - so it sounds like it will be tight.

One problem I had with the V8 (I ended up havint to use the bolts :( ) the backplate has a tendancy to conflict with the positioning of SMD components on the back of a lot of motherboards shorting them if your not careful. I found it impossible with mine to get it tight enough without potentially damaging components.

No problems with mine either !!! Keeps my i7 down to 72 - 75C (under OCCT loading) between 3.6 - 4 GHz OC :)

If your having problems with back of MB why don't you use those small double sided sticky pads available from Tescos for 98p for 100? :)
