Anyone know if I can tax with a new keepers supplement from an old style V5, called a V5/2 ? I still have the whole v5 maybe that will help?

I really dont want to have to wait for dvla to send me a new v5c as tax runs out at end of sept and they can take weeks!

Wait for the reminder letter, then use the code written on that? Then you don't need a V5 at all.

Can't as don't have reminder as just bought the car for mrs, as it's 2003 with only 1 keeper it's never had an updated v5 and I know how much the post office are jobsworths!

Yes it has - everyone was sent a new V5.

Yes you will still be able to, I did one last week where the owner was adamant he hadn't recieved a new style V5.

It may be the fact it's too early in the morning for me and i'm still half cut, but are you saying everybody has been sent the new style V5? Or just when the tax is due?

Everyone has now been sent the new style V5. It happened last year, perhaps the year before last.

you can tax it with a new keeper's supplement, I did that a month ago.

i know u can but its the old style new keepers supplement without a barcode on it, maybe they wont accept it?????, i just compared it to the one for my ST

I'm not sure what you are refering to as new and old, but I think of them like this: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/media/3350697/v5c old and new 700.jpg
I had the keeper's supplement the old one on the left as well, I later got the new red one with my name on it.

There's been another "new" V5 since then, with big red bars across it.

One of the main reasons you get the green new keeper supplement is so you can tax the car whilst waiting for your V5.

That clears things up, i was worried that the new red ones were now the standard and that they'd sent those out to people. Problem solved

update:

The guy in the small village post office let me buy tax today and didnt say anything other than oh an old V5 with no barcode, guess I will enter it manually, job done worrying for nothing!
