Buy an ipad now or wait?

i picked up a 32gb version whilst i was in New York. Very happy with it. i probably wouldn't of got it if i had to pay UK prices though.

5 hours is not enough....

90min on the train to work
1 hour lunch
Check emails now and again (like i check phone for texts)
90min on the train back.

That's 4 hours plus the standby time and checking emails...its too close. If I so much as go somewhere to eat by myself, thats a flat battery on the way home.

Full OS on Tablet = dead battery.

I'm still going to wait for the exopc because if I'm spending that amount of money on a tablet, I want it to be as open as possible and it is easily expandable through SDHC cards. Further, you could decide to go dual boot and install a minimal Linux distro on there which would more than likely increase battery life further.
The basic tests they've done so far with the exopc have been performed on non-optimised pre-production models with a fair amount of multimedia involvement. For office applications and internet browsing only, you'd probably get more miles again. Then when you're relaxing at home on the sofa, you have a nice 11.6" display and not worried about battery life anyway as you'll be close to a wall outlet.

I am really looking forward to the whole host of tablets that will soon hit the market. I did like the look of the Notion Ink Adam, however I know its been delayed and I'm not 100% confident that it will exist??

11.6" that sounds too big really. I think the iPad is the best size. a 7" would be too small imo as it would be in the middle of the iPhone and current iPad to much.

With this size iPad I can hold it in portrait on either side and type fine like a phone which is handy! And its not like its uncomfortable.

I thought 11.6" was going to be too big also until I tried out a pre-production model. Looking at pictures of the exopc online, it looks big and awkward, but once you actually see one for real and pick it up, it's just right. It's kinda hard going back to an ipad afer as it really seems too small, almost like an oversized ipod.
It's similar to TV screens - once you've upgraded to, say 42", it's difficult to then adjust back down to something smaller.
I agree about a 7" model - that would be way on the small side and you'd be not much better off than a decent smart phone. Not sure how the galaxy tab will work out, but if the price is right you never know.

Not checked since but on amazon I looked and the galaxy tab was like £800 lol?

EDIT: £600 just looked. Looks horrible, the edges look extremely thick. Looks too tall and not wide enough
