Just wondering. My dad sent my brothers phone to him (brother visited last week and in typical fashion left his phone in my dads car) via Royal Mail Special delivery.

Apparently the phone arrived with a seemingly small dent on the box, nothing to major, but the LCD in the phone seems to have bought it and is all inky.

Is it reasonable to ask for a repair, or is it part and parcel (groan) of the risks of sending in the post?

RMSD? Let RM know ASAP and make a claim for a new phone/cash for the repair.

Problems may arise depending on how much packaging and whether you mentioned wen you signed for it that the box was damaged. It could end up very difficult to claim if they don't know the box was damaged.

If by Royal Mail Special Delivery it's automatically insured upto £32 I think, your dad would have had to pay for extra if the goods were worth more. You might be able to claim against Royal Mail, in stamps at least I think, but don't quote me on that.

It was an iphone so here's hoping he did.

The phone was well packaged, it seems like something must have given it some bang.

Special delivery is automatically insured up to £500, recorded mail or proof of postage is usually the price of a stamp x100

Good luck btw ive heard they try and wriggle their way out of everything.

RMSD? If you can prove it was properly packaged, you'll be fine.

They'll probably send a loss adjuster along to take a look at the packaging to make sure it's up to scratch.
