Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

There is some serious rubber banding in this.

I qualified on pole with a lap time of 1.20.5. Nearest to me at Montreal was a second away at 1.21.5. Started the race and pulled out 3 seconds on the first lap. I could consistently be at 1.21 lap after lap bettering the 2nd place mans grid time.

Yet there he is sat on my tail for 14 laps. I was putting in fastest lap after fastest lap and if he dropped back a second or two the next lap he would come back at me.

Monteal though is pure win, very easy to attack the corners hard. First career win, pole and topped the practice. Who shows an interest Torro Rosso :(

I cannot stand rubber banding, why have different AI levels if you are also going to rubber band.
It is poor AI programming, at expert level, the cars themselves (not JUST the times) should be the same/similar to what the actual cars can do round these tracks.

We are going over the same ground over and over now.

If you don't like it and are going to return it, do so, quit moaning about it and be done with it.

The game is still very enjoyable and does have a real feel for what hammering it around the track in an F1 car is like. Look back at the posts and you will see aside from the bugs, myself and others who have put some time into it are actually really enjoying it.

I think we get the idea now that some just arent happy.

So no point continuing to moan about what we already know here guys.
Spunkey I guess you are best selling your copy and forgetting this thread.

Maybe the game just isnt for you...

Some sensible people have recognised that their is a great game in this but with fundemental flaws that should be addressed soon. Codemasters need this game to be a hit and they have previously expressed this is to be thieir biggest title to date. They are a good enough studio and well I think they will have information forthcoming regards a patch.

Some people just go a bit OTT and jump on the bandwagon.

Right picked this up last night. Well aware of the apparent bugs and problems with this game. Hopefully they get sorted soon. Ha a quick 20 mins last night, not played a F1 game since the playstation 1! Lost my way with formula one for a few years (since Schumacher left Ferrari) and have Paid much attention to it since. The only tracks I properly know are Monaco & Brazil.

I tried it with all assists off apart from the racing line.
I just cant help thinking it's cheating. Do you guys genuinely pick up th track and racing lines during practice or do you know they tracks already. I just can't see how i'm going to learn the racing lines well enough.

I find the steering too sensitive using the pad, Is there a way to turn down the sensitivity?

I use the dynamic racing line when in practice 1 & 2, then turn it off to learn the tracks. Or just practice in Time Trial mode if it's really difficult.

It's probably the only racing game I've played where you have to know the correct lines to be quick against the AI, anything else has always been pretty easy to just do whatever you liked :p

I dont find the dynamic line updates quick enough, not when compared to the one in Forza.

I am with you though, you really need to get good entry into the corners, or set of corners, it is really easy to go into them too quick and muck it all up, losing 3 or 4 seconds.

So, is this worth buying?
Just got back from hols and the current page just shows a load of moans? Is it really that bad? :(

no matey, it isn't.

I've just finished a 10 lap race around Silverstone in a BMW Sauber in a dogfight with Barichello and Hulkenberg, managed to squeeze 12th place and I'm still buzzing.

You'll love it, no question.

RE: Driving line

I just cant help thinking it's cheating.

Just because it's there, doesn't mean its correct. I noticed this on the 2nd corner on singapore, it was red (which to me means brake) for way longer than it needs to be, I'm back on the power much sooner than it turns green.

I say make your own opinion, you can always take the game back.

I've noticed it sometimes stays red when it's plainly obvious you can apply throttle, but I use it mainly to know when to start braking, which I've found it useful for.

On another note, had the pit-stop bug last night at Malaysia in the rain :( Was in 7th in a Lotus on for a points finish when everyone decided to pit at the same time, I had delayed it a couple of laps too from the suggested strategy. Needless to say, rage quit and I'll either pit early or try to make it all the way on one set of tires next time (was on inters).

A fellow forum member and mate has lent me his wheel so I can try some comparisons later wheel against pad to see what I find fastest.

The game is so rewarding when you start to attack a circuit getting the lines right.

Game is starting to grow on me some more. And, I noted someone state Grand Prix 4 was released full of bugs etc..

True, it was and actually Grand Prix 3 was even worse. Formula one is a tricky game to cover off correctly.... Too many want it just like the real thing, and some want to smash cars up and not concentrate on the racing line..

to get this balance isn't easy. I still feel codemasters have missed a trick with not allowing viewing of AI controlled cars as it can be useful to watch other cars to learn the tracks...

Anyhow, lets see if the patch is released... We can only hope, as like i said underneath all of this there is a very good racing game in there..

Played a load online Friday with some mates.

Aside from the few races where someone would punt you off for no reason other than the lulz ( ) it was pretty awesome. Was behind the leader in Spa, obviously he had auto braking on so I waited for him to slow and tried to pass on the last corner.. he straightlined the chicane and tried to push me wide. Fought him for a few laps when I discovered how to alter the wing and engine map in-car and left him for dust :D

Haven't played enough singleplayer to notice the bugs
