BA, Virgin or United to Washington

Do they still do upgrades for joe public?

Last couple of times flying with AA and Continental they said they could only upgrade gold AA card members :(

Chances of getting upgraded with no status are virtually nil. I fly a LOT all over the world with loads of different airlines and never get upgrades despite asking sometimes. Only times were when I volunteered to get bumped, or because of FF status (Skyteam)

Will be flying with work to Washington later this year but no business class. I can go with any airline out of Heathrow.

How does cattle class compare with the options above? Anyone else I could fly with that are decent?

It isn't terribly long flight but when all options are available I might as well select the best.

"You've now failed to pull off the whole 'LOOK AT ME, I AM A WEALTHY BUSINESSMAN' thing."

:D

Don't know why people dislike BA, all airlines are much of a muchness in economy.

In Club BA are great so maybe I'm biased towards them. I fly BA because I love Terminal 5 primarily.

At the end of the day I'd pick the cheapest out of BA/Virgin/Continental, stay away from most of the other US carries.

Personally I think that BA's cattle class is the best of the three, but Virgin take over from premium economy and up.

Whatever you do, don't go American, did that last year and it was a horrible experience!

The comparison to that thread was about as relevant as the comment I quoted from it :D.

Before I carry on can you just admit you intend to steer this perfectly civil thread towards a comment made 3 months ago for the purpose of having an argument?

I am happy to oblige but would like this admission first.

How dare I defend myself against some guy taking the mick out of the way I phrased a useful and on topic reply.

I can't really win can I?

What exactly are you trying to achieve here?

BA's WT+ is pointless but Virgin's UC is rubbish compared to BA Club. I just love the privacy and how the seat slides down into a decent flat bed. Food/whatever doesn't bother me.

hmm I'd disagree, UC is cool, I like the bar area makes flying less solitary, the seats also slide down into a flat bed and you get raiseable partitions should you take offence to your neighbour. Food is lush and the only annoying thing is the constant onslaught of free massages, not the worst thing in the world to complain about :p the business lounge on virgin is leagues ahead of BA although I must admit to not having travelled club with BA for two years now as a result of fall in love with virgin :)

Defend? Win? There is no battle Fox, only that in your mind!

"I spent months agonizing over this" is pretty funny, admit it.

Not as funny as your pitiful contributions to this thread.

I am surprised you don't know what a figure of speech is though, you don't take them literally.
