Anything better than a k750i?

Just added an 810i to the wifes watch list, see if she takes the hint ;)

Just need some unbranded firmware to get the network gubbins off :)

ill warn that the 810i has a xenon flash not the LED you wanted

its basically a slimmer k800i (you can use the same firmwares on both phones)

edit - nevermind i see you mean W810, IIRC it uses the same hardware as the k750? i had both at one point

looked at any of these to see how much they sell for? much slimmer/sleeker with similar specs http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-Ericsson...obilePhones&hash=item3cb0f98089#ht_500wt_1154

and when on ebay dont worry too much about what network the phones are on because devinci client is an online tool that unlocks nearly all SEs for around a tenner

I've seen w810i on the bay for around £60 brand new (think the last new phone i had was a nokia 1610)

Cautious of some of the newer phones, we bought a SE handset for the wife a few years ago and it had the most godawful screen i've seen in a modern phone, totally unusable in sunlight.

I used davinci a few year ago to turn one of my 750i into a 800i (better walkman functions, the phone was the headunit in my car at the time!). Looked at it last year and it was all priced in credits and such and doing the same thing worked out at around £30  (unless i'd miscalculated, which wouldn't surprise me)

Ahhh saves me from making up a new thread but my old k800i which my mum has been using for the past 2-3 yrs finally gave up the ghost on the weekend.

Anyhow looking for a replacement myself...had a look on ebay and saw one up in brum for £120 new, unlocked and boxed....dont know if thats a good price as ive seen a few in hong kong being sold for about £70.

My mum quite likes the SE W995i phone, expensive at £230 from an online retailer...any views about that particular one??...is it any good or is it one to stay away from??.

I'm looking at the HK imports myself, pretty much half the price of a UK sourced phone.

Wonder if they'd get hit for import duty being a new item and all that?

This doesn't look too bad:

I personally don't trust phones and other tech from Hong Kong. Been stung with fake headphones (Beats by Dr Dre) that were sold as "100% genuine" at a similar price fraction. They looked 99.99999999% genuine upon receiving them, but it soon became apparent they were in fact "100% genuine extremely good ****ing fakes" when they started falling apart after 2-3 weeks ¬_¬

Anybody with a C510 know if you can use the camera flash as a torch, or is it only a flash? (don't want to get the wrong toy)

.

even though its my favourite phone id never pay that much for one. for that price you could do much better with something like a nokia 6220 or n82 (both have xenon flashes and great cameras which i assume you liked about the k800i ?)

ive seen unwanted upgrade k810is go for cheaper than that too

I had lots of new phones from Milestone, Desire, Galaxy S, Iphone 4 but as always get bored of them and sell them on now sitting on a old phone my sister gave me SE W880I and it has by far the best sound for mp3 out of any new phone i have had.

I couldn't get how much bass it had listening to music stick Mega Bass on and it's superior to any of the other phones and sound quality is great also, ok its pretty crap at everything else but for music and battery life its a winner and in the end it does its job as a phone.

SB118 - There is an application for the k800i that uses the focus LED as a torch. This may be of some use to you? While the light is slightly orange its still very usable!

argh, wish i'd never started the thread now, i started out with a choice of two, not there are about a dozen i'm looking at!

Just been out and picked up my new (to me) phone, wifey found somebody selling a vodaphone locked SE W995. After using the fact that it would cost to be unlocked, etc, she got the phone for £55, and it turns out it's already unlocked.

Result! :D

My mobile has just taken quite a step forward in technology, 8.2mp camera, wifi, streaming video, the works. And it's got an LED flash :D

Now i need to work out how to make sure it only uses my local wireless and doesn't make any data calls until i've updated my call package (£10/month simplicity right now, no data allowance)

Utterly utterly chuffed :D

Gah, buggers at o2 have changed the packages, need to jump up to £20/month to get 500mb data. Unless i've got an iphone, then it's only £15.
