Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

You can still get the 360 wireless wheel from the high street catalogue shop, I picked one up yesterday. Go to their site and they say they are out of stock, but there is an option to have one delivered to your local store for pick-up. Guess they have some in a warehouse somewhere. They send you a text when it arrives, mine took three days. Makes the game much more enjoyable.

So far of all the tracks I've raced (I'm on Monza now), Istanbul, Turkey is my favourite. The big long bend is awesome going full out. Spa is also fantastic.

There are effectively 2 pit stop bugs.
The first, you come in for tyres and the lollipop man will not release you if there are any other cars in the pit lane, regardless of their position relative to your car. This can lose you immense amounts of time.

The other bug seems to be with timing in the pits. You seem to lose far more time when piting compared to the other cars, even if you have a clean stop yourself.

Another "bug" on the exit of the pits, the car behind will just drive through you, I've had this 3 times now.

Agreed on istanbul, found it an easy track but very very fun, same with montreal. Hockenhiem has a great last two corners for hanging on with the power if you have the right amount of downforce.

Hate what they have done to some circuits though over the years, silverstone and hockenhiem. They should add some old tracks with DLC.

Silverstones last few corners are a nightmare on the pad because you can't keep a smooth tight line without a bit of zig zagging.

Absolutely hate Silverstone. It's a mundane track. Rubbish. Same with Bahrain. I love Melbourne*(spelling?), has some great sections.

To me Silverstone doesn't quite seem like the real thing. Having been to the GP there this year, and now driving it on the game, some of the straights don't seem long enough.

I know I know, when you're going 200mph they will seem shorter, but even just looking from one end to the other doesn't give me the same sense of distance as it does in real life.

Not a major big issue though. Also, like others Istanbul is my favourite track so far.

The slow right hander at the end of sector 2 always gets me!

Running wide and staying on the power for the last bend is pure win though.

Most frustrating thing about this game is getting chimped in the pits. Yet again qualified on pole by a margin of 1.4 seconds. Yet there is always one driver that can hang onto you. In the race with the laptimes I was setting I should have been pulling a gap of atleast 1 sec per lap. Yet one driver sits on my tail 2 secs adrift no matter how hard I push.

They pit, take on the 'slower tyre' I bang in 3-5 laps of pole speed laps still on the option tyre. Pit, come out in second 9 ****ing seconds adrift of the leader.

Gah

I have never had a pit problem...if I start on pole I lead for like 4 laps which is when a majority pit bar a couple who usually pit next lap which is when I push the car and aim for a big lead, I then pit to prime types around lap 9 and come out 1/2 secs ahead and then I just race the last laps (I do 20%)

Lotus offered me a new contract, good of them. £6.5 million no1 status. Thanks Tony you will have to do a lot better than that beings I've secured 78 points of our 78 point total :D

must have been a low AI level. Intermediate by the sounds of it. Stick it on Professional.

Lotus offered me £7M No 1 Driver which I accepted. I rejected the first offer of £6M. The money seems a bit pointless as you can't spend it on anything!

Got a new toy that Ive been waiting ages on and a friend brought back from New York

Not sure if any of you have tactile devices like Buttkickers but I certainly recommend them, particulary with games like this.

I already have some Buttkickers but this Clarke T209 produces a different more varied effect. Has a bit less whack but actually more subtle better for music and acoustics as well as general bass.
Works quite well with F1 2010 particulary on the kerbs transferring the bass into vibrations in your seat. Just helps enchance the experience :D

Actually I'm really liking the new Silverstone, the flat out right and left section at Abbey are great fun, a real test of nerve wether to lift or not, being an airfield there isn't much to look at but the circuit is a peach :)

Mr Latte, what is your setup? Sorry If you already posted it. What chair / stand / wheel etc.

Currently have two main options using the following:
Logitech DF GT & G25 ( G25 will be modded with proper size wheel, I just bought the DF GT for the sake of it last year and do comparisons had the G25 for a long time now)
Fanatec Turbo S & Clubsports (tuning kit ordered)

Gamepod racing frame (used to sit at PC a lot too)
Fanatec wheel stand (tempororay usage)

Ive been working on building a rather crazy d.i.y sim cockpit for sometime as some are aware. It will be to a high standard visually. Using chrome tubing and a proper Cobra "Sebring Pro" bucket seat. Using triple monitors. Quite a bit of money spent on this over the last 2 years but a bit like how some recently have shown arcade cabinets this will be my deluxe arcade type racing seat. Just a hobby project mainly and a personal challenge.

Sample of monitor mount (Work in progress / err version 3)
Building this in my shop storeroom at a very slow pace when time/mood allows.

Lets not go off topic though, just wanted to let some of you keen racers know about the Clarke/Buttkickers.
