Scammer lawyler gets owned

You're right TBH.

ACS-Law deserve FAR worse than just a mild DDOS that stuffed their website. A few kg of turds in boxes and a small thermo-nuke through their front door would have been better :D
Turds in their mouth and thermo-nukes up their backside would be more fitting.

Come on guys, own up. Who's on the list?

Serious questions have been raised over ACS: Law because of this. One would hope that it might put an end to this sort of profiteering, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

The most surprising thing about this case for me is that using an ISP controlled by TalkTalk, I'm actually safer from scumbag companies like these than most people in the country.

Before you say "You must download a lot pf porn then." You have to note this company's history of accusing innocent people of downloading pornography, who then pay up anyway just to save face.

That'd be this complaint then:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/08/24/acslaw_regulator_complaint/

That was reported on 24th August. Solicitors regulatory body = slow and toothless.

Come on, how long can it take to decide: "Is this what we want our members doing?"

Oh... never mind, 4chan fixed it for them. ;)

I'm not on any of this lists, but if I was I'd be tempted to change ISP or even bank account!
My friend got a letter for apparently downloading a song, can't remember what it was, but it was ****. They wanted something like £600 for it. Though she had never even downloaded that particular song.
Sounds almost like extortion to me, it's a shame that people like this are allowed to run a business... :( I looks like they could be facing a fine of up to £500k, I think it would be better if they paid back all the money (apparently £600k+) that they got from the poor sods who fell for this scam.

They just mentioned this on Radio 1. Made ACS:Law sound a lot more reputable than they really are :(.
You have to remember that the media (even the BBC) can put their own spin on a story, which is why it's often best to get a story from more than 1 source. I'd quite like to see how Sky news report this Seeing as thousands of Sky BB customers personal info is now in the public domain! :D

What time was it featured? I don't listen to Radio 1 anymore but I wouldn't mind hearing it on the iPlayer. :)

17:55 I'd say it was :).

If i got a letter i would just screw it up and put in the bin. Let them take me to court and prove it was me.

Let them prove that my router is secure and they know for a fact it was ME ( as named in the letter ) who knowingly did what they accuse me of.

If they cannot do all that then they will get nowhere.

Cheers, it says 'coming soon' on the iPlayer so I'll try again tomorrow.
I've got the lot, there is even scans of peoples passports as attachments :o

Have they even heard of the data protection act? :/
Briefly went through it yesterday, shocking all round! Some of the emails are just too funny!
What did they say, I'm guessing that must have dealt with some pretty irate people if they were being treated like criminals when in fact they were totally innocent...
