Hi there, do you plan on making use of crossfire (ie add a second 5770) at some point in the future?

Also, are you planning to overclock?

Finally, as stulid says, do you need the case, HDD, DVD drive or CPU cooler included within the £350 budget along with the core components?

Hi definitely do need a case as basically the reason I'm building a new (budget) Pc is I don't have room in my car going to uni to take my whole PC whereas things like PSU/GPU and possibly HDDs I can cram in other bags!!

I like that spec as it was similar to what I was thinking of, however what are the differences between the P55 line of boards and H55 ones (like the one you specced)?

EDIT: to cmndr andi - I doubt I will ever crossfire in the forseeable future, as to overclocking I doubt it as its literally just a budget pc for uni work and the odd game/DVD and ideally need it to be as light and small as possible.

Cheers

Indeed, also the vast majority of H55 and H57 boards are micro-ATX, so you get less PCIe and PCI connections compared to a standard ATX board.

The other major difference is that all P55 boards support AMD CrossfireX, however only the ones over £130 support proper symmetrical crossfire.

Ok I am 99.9..% sure I will never crossfire and similarly I'm pretty sure I'll never need more than 2 PCI slots and 1 PCI-E slot.

So if the H55 boards are just as competent as overclocking (as I will eventually oc) then I think the cheaper H55 boards sound good.

overclocking you say, stick an aftermarket cooler in as well with your remaining budget.

Hello AlexTrickle :)

Can I ask why you are wanting an Intel® Core™ i3 HyperThreaded DualCore when for almost the same money you could buy a nice AMD® Phenom™ II X4 QuadCore?

It would see that the Deneb QuadCore offers much more processsing power than the little Clarkesdale DualCore? . . . the Deneb seems like a better purchase so I am perplexed as to what your "reasons" are?

I'm also wondering why on earth you would move from the above spec to another DualCore?

I can't take my PC up to uni and I need to leave it behind for my parents to be able to use - hence being able to poach certain parts like gpu, psu and stuff i have antistatic wrapping for and then can pad in my clothes bags etc
