How is this still not fixed? I hadn't played FM3 in a long time but got the urge today and it didn't take me long to start hearing those pops and crackles in the sound whilst on track.

Is there no solution? It's really quite distracting!

You making popcorn whilst your playing or frying chips or an egg? Ive never noticed this once even when playing it on 5.1

Did have a sound issue with forza 1 but it turned out the audio on my original xbox was at fault.

Well I'm not the only one because google brings up a lot of people with the same issue.

I got this with the few mixamps I've used on forza running through optical. The solution for me was to drop the in game overall volume down to 15-20% and boost the amp = no more crackling.

Will give this a go.

They didn't even attempt to fix it because the majority in T10's opinion don't notice it. The main thread on the official forums was removed when all the unresolved issues were swept into a new sub forum. There isn't a solution because it happens when the CPU is being overloaded.

It's massively noticeable to me, especially on very detailed tracks.

I suppose on TV speakers you're less likely to hear it because it's a muddled mess anyway.

I do believe you, but I will say that it does only affect a small number of people,

I run mine either optically to a 5.1 surround sound system, cranking it right up for maximum enjoyment of the engine sounds, or through a gaming headset, again cranked up quite loud, and I don't get any pops/crackles at all, I'm exceedingly fussy about sound quality and this would be something I'd notice immediately.

What setup do you have?

I get this too.

Its not a big problem and it doesn't happen every time I play the game, but I will get a loud pop.

Mines connected by optical to a Denon A10SE.

I find it hard to believe what I'm reading when people say it isn't an issue, but I guess it demonstrates why they knowingly released it as it.

It is to me too, I'd rather of had more popup or some trackside detail removed than sound issues.

They're Logitech X-230's.

As I said, I do believe people are having the issue, loud pops/cracklings etc are something that annoys the hell out of me!,

If it where me, I'd try a few things to see if I can pinpoint anything that might mitigate it slightly
1. Adjusting in-game volume options, Reduce the 360's chat volume setting in the dashboard.
2. Uninstalling from HDD and playing from Disc
3. Try a different set of speakers
4. Try a different 360 (A Mates)
5. Try a different controller/wheel (They send mic audio to the 360..)

I'm sure there's plenty to try, and it's a shame clearly some people are suffering..

I don't really understand how chat could be a contributing factor when nothings plugged in.

You can try if you like, but pretty much every angle was covered in the deleted thread. Nothing user adjustable can stop the CPU load going over 100%.

Humph, wonder if the newer Xbox's suffer the same?
