Flights to Vancouver from Manchester

I forgot they were back up and running again! Although, I wouldn't fancy going all the way to Vancouver with them.

I flew from Munich to Toronto with them, it was a bit cramped but not the worst flight I've had. Saying that it is probably the worst transatlantic flight I've had legroom and entertainment-wise. Thank god for beer. :D

I bet they charged a pretty penny for your alcoholic in flight entertainment :D

The way out I spent a couple of hours in the Munich Airbrau place and on the way back we were delayed a few hours in Toronto in the evening so I did most of the consumption in the airport, it's probably the only time I've ever slept on the majority of a flight!

Actually though I just remembered I asked for a seat next to an empty one on the return leg as the legroom was very poor on that plane, it was like an Easyjet flight but for 7 hours.

klm are pretty good, you just have to be careful about stop over times...
you can sometimes get a deal from ba/air canada not sure when they have their sales, but i got returns to vyr for about 500 quid with ba (glasgow>london>vancouver) which means baggage and service is top drawer, got some good deals for montreal with air france last week, not sure if they do vancouver

KLM look ok from Manchester but with a change at Amsterdam with a 3 hour wait between flights. An extra £210 over the direct to Vancouver from Gatwick flights i've found. I think it is worth not having to get the train from Hull to Gatwick early morning which will cost about £120+ extra anyway.

Shame they have no flights scheduled for February, March or April next year. Looks like flying from London it is.

They are chartered flights not scheduled so you'll have to wait if you want to fly direct. Of course though there is the risk they might not charter any flights on that route next year.

I wanted to book soon so ill have to look for something else. Are there often problems with transfers? For example if your connecting flight is delayed what happens then?

If people had not already guessed it is a loooonnnngggg time since i've flown and never long haul.

If your xfer is delayed and you miss your connection, PROVIDED it is all under the same booking, the airline will stick you on an alternative flight.

If you are silly enough to book separate flights with different airlines, you're on your own.

So if I booked Manchester to Vancouver (xfer in Amsterdam) with KLM and missed the connection it would be ok, just we would have a delay? I guess there is no compensation for such an incident?! Lol

Not sure if they still run the flight, but this summer I flew Manchester to Vancouver with Canadian Affair. Cheap and sort of cheerful! They messed up seating arrangements etc on both the outwards and return flights, and they are apparently very bad for overbooking the flights so if you do go with them then pay the extra and pre reserve a seat. Other than that it got me there and back for not too much money.
