Yea for sure, i did want to like that a bit more, maybe it will grow on me when i have a drive.

Chap I know bought one of the first cars in the UK, paid mad money. I still remember him taking me for a spin and slowly opening up and telling me how crap it was and how much money he'd spunked on this pile of crap. I swear there were tears as he drove it and the realisation sank in :D

Iv got to say if i had given the 70k for that i would be suicidal :)
 
Awesome car, gearbox on these things take a bit of getting used to as essentially it's not an auto box but an auto clutch.

To get gear changes to be smoother you need to ease off the throttle when you anticipate it's going to change up.

You might not like it now but you'll fall in love with it after a few weeks :)

It's hardly unexpected though :p ....It's rather well known that these aren't really very good, it was cheap though and it looks pretty, seems to have the right sort of history etc, so easy profit ...it really doesn't matter.

Personally I have always had a soft sport for Maserati's ...the engine notes are fantastic, they almost always look rather special ...but even with my fair hat on, I would struggle to defend that interior and the gearbox sounds annoyingly crap.

I thought that was just the earlier cars? The laters one with the gearbox upgrades and sky hook suspension were supposed to be quite good. Perhaps I shouldn't believe everything I read in EVO.
 
A guy at my old work had a Maserati (think it was the same model as yours but not sure) and he was having to change the clutch nearly every 15k miles :eek: - which is actually not that surprising considering what you've said about the gearbox.
 
The bit about lifting off just before gear changes is supposed to be sorted in the 2003 onwards incarnation.

I suppose its just me like i said, i cant see the point of this gearbox, if you want an auto you want an auto.

A concept they seem to have grasped now because the later 2008 ish Grandsports have a auto box i think, i might have the model wrong, certainly the latest Maseratis have got a proper auto.

As for that skyhook business it keeps you on the road no doubt but in sport mode harsh wasnt the word, and not in a compliant Porsche way either.

Anyway you cant blame the car it is what it is, i only got it because it was cheap, and i fancied one, no harm done it just aint my cup of tea.

Mind you im saying all this i only drove it round an industrial estate me son gave it a thrashing on the road, so my opinion is only based on that.
