Why do you think people don’t like the Police?

Resisting authority is natural, especially when it has no right to rule over you.

Completely honestly, I do not consider myself subject to the law. It's just something that exists that if I break and get caught I have my time/money stolen from me as a consequence. I do not live by some arbitrary texts created by a group of people to control another group of people.

Because they represent authority? Because they stop people from doing whatever the hell they want?

And because of the media.

If I think about it, it's not so much the police I dislike, but the law, and the belief people (including the police) have that law is somehow above the freedom of individuals and everything else.

'Law' has been responsible for some of the most disgusting treatment of human beings the world has ever known, and continues to be on a daily basis, yet is often held up as the most important aspect of our society. I cannot respect such a flawed concept.

Because some of them are jobsworths who seem to take delight in filling arrest quotas. Most of them are alright though.

I have no problem with the police, they have a job and someone has to do it. A small minority do abuse the system themselves but if someone is robbing your house then who else is going to have the skill to arrest or defend you?

Because they go after people for pointless trivial offences like speeding and smoking weed instead of going after the true criminals like the ones that:

are selling crack to kids
Kill people
Stole my telly
are Loan Sharks
Fight in Public
etc..

Law is held up as one of the most important aspects of our society for the simple reason it is one of the most important aspects of our society, it regulates what is and is not allowed at the time (broadly) according to the prevailing mores of the age. You don't particularly have to like it or even respect it but if you transgress against it then (assuming you are caught) you'll have problems - if that's a risk you are willing to take then that's up to you but please don't complain about it should you find yourself facing up to the punishment. The law is a tool, if you want to blame something for the evils that go on in the World then blame people - they're at the root of the problem.

There seems to be a new question or two from Virdi everyday at the moment, it's a bit like having cleanbluesky back but not as wordy and without the guise of social experiments behind the topic. In answer to the original question - I neither especially like or dislike the police as a body, there are good and bad people in it the same as any other occupation under the sun.

I don't hate them or dislike them per se, but I personally have found them utterly useless on every occasion I've required their assistance.

Should be replaced with an automated line that provides crime reference numbers for insurance in my case. I might actually suggest that should I have to write yet ANOTHER wholly ineffective letter to my MP regarding our local "force".
