Yo.

Does anyone have any experience of taking folding bikes on aeroplanes with them? I'm thinking of taking my Brompton on holiday with me since it'll fit in my suitcase and it'll still be inside the weight limit. Travel is to USA in case it makes any difference.

Couldn't see why it would make any difference assuming it's within the weight limit, I nearly always see at least one going around the luggage belts whenever I'm at an airport. It might be worth giving the airline your travelling with a call or at least telling them at the desk when you check in.

wouldnt be any different to parents putting childrens push chairs on the plane as checked baggage

check with your airline but it should be fine, you shouldnt even need to put it in a suitcase i would have thought. You'll have to pay obviously

but since you only get 1 suitcase on economy, i wouldnt want my only suitcase on a holiday to the USA to have a bike in it !

Don't you have to put it in a bag or something i'd imagine? To stop pedals etc ripping other peoples stuff.

we never did with our lads pushchair and that had hinges and all sorts sticking out when folded.
