Hello, am going to PX my 02 VRS for something similar.

It has 82 on the clock, FSH, HPI clear, LPG converted.

Options:

Mondeo ST
S40 T4
Jag X-type V6.

Looking for a 02/03 plate or above.

I know they're all pretty nippy but which one would be best in terms of reliability, engine, electrics wise?

Better the devil you know surely? You will her ripped off on a px for something similar.

Dont understand what you mean, serious.

Putting a grand in and a px is going sideways not forward really.

Right, forget the PX. sell the VRS for about 2700, ill have about 3500 to buy a decent motor then.

Want a turbo, cant go back to a normal car now tbh would feel like a downgrade.

So it has to be a FI car  Plenty of quick N/A cars.

Quick, reliable and cheap

Pick two of the three.

You seem to want quick and cheap so anything you find it probably going to cost a fair bit to run.

Quick and reliable, allow the cheap. I've got another car aswell that need to be sold. With both sold I'll have around 4 bags to spend.

You can buy a 530i for that, but could easily spend another £4k over the first year of ownership.

It then becomes useless trying to buy a cheap car because it's so expensive to run.

So you are happy for it to not be cheap and potentially cost thousands ever month to keep on the road?

Why would it cost me 4k in the first year? Obviously wouldn't want that.

But two of the cars in your op have no turbo?

hmm, thought the jag did, well that and the st have impressive 0-60 figures.

Don't know if it will feel as good as a turbo though.

Of course it will, you have got usable torque all the time instead of waiting for boost.

And i tjought bms were reliable..

They are and they are not, but reading into silly stereotypes like that is not going to get you a good car.

Ah VWss never break down, except they do.

What do you want from a car, you seem to be buying for the sake of it? Or for simply wanting something faster without thinking about the running costs.

Fox's car has done 160k~, is 8 years old and has a 3 litre petrol engine. How cheap do you expect it to be to run?

You do realise all three of those cars in your original post and budget are going to cost much more than just the extra fuel to keep running over your VRS?

all of those cars will cost more to run and dont really offer much of an improvement for the increase in cost especially the fuel costs!

Only plus points will be the interiors, but much smaller boots.

esp with you coming from LPG the extra fuel costs will be huge!
