Ok due to my constant procrastination I never got round to ordering the VW I promised to buy my brother. He is now coming back from his holiday next week and I really want to get it sorted so I will just have to pick a stock car as I don’t want to wait 4 months.

Both cars have lumbar support, leather, bi-xenon, 18 inch alloys and a few other toys

Choice number 1 Blue 16.8k
VW Scirocco 1.4 TSI 118kW (160 BHP),
Has parking sensors also

Choice number 2 White cost 18.6k
Volkswagen Scirocco Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0 TSI 155kW (211k)
Also has a panoramic roof and flat bottom multifunction steering wheel.

Disclaimer: I know it stupid to buy a new car but I get it VAT free and I can depreciate it against corporation tax over 2 years saving me another 25%

Keeping in mind I started out planning to buy a 1.4 TSI golf for 10k is it really worth the 2k extra for the 2.0 over the 1.4?

If you got it spare treat him, **** it, bloods thicker than water :)

If the rules from my tax knowledge hasn't changed then the 1.4 is under 160g/km so will get you 20% capital allowances against your tax, the 2.0 is above so will only get you 10%.

Another factor that may not be pointed out to you :p

Sorry, its not based in the uk. Company car tax is the same on all cars here, around 120 quid a year.

I have the cash but dont want to waste it unless it worth it. I think my dad will throw in a few K which is a bonus.

He is going to be really pleased when I pick him up from the airport in his new car.

Be nice and get the 2.0. The roof'd probably swing it for me if I wasn't fussed about what was under the bonnet..

Is your brother tall? There isn't a lot of headroom in the Scirocco, and the roof steals a bit of what little there is. The multifunction steering wheel is nice though.

nop he is around 5ft 7 so should be ok. I dont think he will do ver 3 go 5k miles per year anyway. Just uni and back which is only a few miles away.

If I really wanted to treat him, I'd buy the 2.0. Its going to be better to drive as well as easier to sell when the time comes. It'll probably hold its money better, too.

Parking sensors and the multifunction wheel are worth having.
The sunroof isn't as it only tilts, you have climate control anyway and it's quite colour sensitive. Looks good on white (which is good for the one you have), not so good on others.

I have/love the 2.0 and I haven't driven the 1.4 but the oomph is well worth the extra I think.
