M5 worth buying

All im saying is it would annoy me if i had a new m3 knowing a 335d does 0-60 in 5. something seconds, i.e within 0.5 of my car. when my car is a v8 petrol and theres is a diesel, admittedly not just any diesel.

But are you going to drag 0-60 with a diesel in your M3?

What about the difference 30-70 for example?
What about corners?
What about the noise?
What about the fact you and everyone else knows it's an M3?
What about the fact you enjoy owning it?

What about the fact it dont stink of diesel and sound like a tractor :)

I'm sure I've seen that parked up around St ALbans, but most likely on the way back with the Mrs after pub action. Will keep an eye out! :D

For 90% of the time,in "the real world" the 335d is - imo - the better car.

Trouble is, with M cars, its that remaining 10% thats night & day better imo.

Ok, that 10% is rarely used, but when it is........

No comparison.

True to form we have gone from beautiful e39 M5's to diesel 3's...... :o :D

Really, why does this matter?

£5,000 is enough to buy a car that would have absoultely no hassle whatsoever keeping up with a M3 in a 0-60 sprint, but that's not really the point of the car, is it?

There is always something out there faster.

yeah like some kid in a corsa B with a C20LET engine running 400bhp.

Lovely example but really starting to show it's age these days.

Knew someone with a black one with nav/tv the lot and it ran him into the ground from a running cost point of view.

Anyway I think I was being rather dull tbh good points made about the diesel m3 situation

All that aside sorry for the massive derail totally my bad

No sat nav :(

The X-plates had the 4:3 sat nav. Loosing that is far from the end of the world. It looked naff and most will probably out of date (I can't remember what the cost of the updated DVD was, but it was in the hundreds of pounds IIRC)

EDIT: Also if he's not used it in a while it will get grumpy. My dad had an X plate 3 years ago that the previous owner hadn't used much and it was a pain to begin with, because they don't like not being used

No they didnt - all facelift E39's had 16:9 navigation.

No, this car would have come with 16:9 navigation, it was changed over at the facelift!

Put it in the barn with the rest of them, iv even got the hot air jobby in there :)

I had one land just off my drive 3 weeks or so back, he had just landed on my drive and I pushed him over the fence into the farmers field! It was ace, gassed it, raised it 5 feet and I just pushed it and he landed it down in the field.
