Nikon and Canon ones have some sort of IS in them. The Sony one obviously has no need for that.

There are only a few reviews so far but they rave about the sharpness and vfm. Priced around £400, these have won the EISA Best product 2010/2011.

For £400 I would get the already loved Nikon 70-300 VR :)

From an early review someone said:-

Needless to say, after shooting with this lens for a while, I decided to sell my Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G AF-S VR. The Tamron simply beat the Nikkor on every aspect while offering competitive price at the same time.

It's just another option to consider.

I've just recently sold my Sony A700 and might get back in to photography at a later date. This lens may well make me give Nikon a go even though it's also available for Canon and Sony.

I also think there is a rebate on this lens at the moment as well.

Any more information on the rebate FB? I've had my eye on this lens to replace an old Minolta 70-300, plus it's darn more portable than my Sigma 100-300 f/4.

I asked 20:20 (Tamron UK distributor) about the Sony mount in August and they said to give it four weeks (which is around now).

Google "tamron rebate uk" and this thread is the 4th result :D

I can't find any UK details but I know the US had a $50 rebate. Might be Nikon only.
