TF2: The MANN-conomy Update

Didn't actually realise an update was coming and i play TF2 most days.

New items look pretty cool. But the item shop concept is a load of crap imo.

The shop just seems to be for people who can't wait to unlock the new stuff, suppose its an ok addition in that way, its not like theres exclusive stuff for shop only.

to be fair, i got 2 huntsman bows not long after i got the game, and through experimenting, accidentally crafted then into scrap metal. 100 playing hours later, and im still yet to find another :(

I get plenty of weapon drops but not hat drops. I have one hat and that is it!

It was only a matter of time before this happened.

From the moment hats and crafting was introduced then microtransactions were inevitable.

Doesn't bother me, I would never pay for an in game item and especially one I can get for free by just playing the game.

I also don't see it as any kind of "OMG Valve are the new Microsoft money grabbing whores"

I have a had more value out of the Orange Box than probably any other game I have ever purchased and it only cost £25.

Considering the insane support Valve give their games i'll probably buy some stuff sooner or later. Other games companies could learn a thing or 2 from how valve treat their customers. Can you imagine how much all the free stuff we got would cost if this was an ea game or all seperate transactions like a 360 live game?

Its amazing looking at the steam forums the amount of clueless tards that seem to think they have to buy everything.

I plan to buy everything that I don't have (within reason)

This way, Valve will get some money from me for this essentially free game

That's just throwing your money away, the stuff is stupid prices. I can understand buying a rare item if you really like it and really enjoy the game, but more than that is a bit silly in my opinion.

If you want to give some money to valve, gift some of their games to friends.

Does tf2 now have cross platform mp  ?

Just checked the store page and noticed this :

Error?
Or have I missed something, googling doesn't bring anything up...

Judging by the TF2 forum on steams forum the world is ending hehe. I won't buy anything but if other people want to what's the matter with valve giving them a way to do it?

Only way people might gain an advantage is if they buy the item sets. http://www.teamfortress.com/mannconomy/item_sets/ . But they have drawbacks like anything else.

As far as i know you can get all them item's apart from the hats/headgear for which you have to pay for :/ and if u aint got the hat then you wont get the bonus from the set.
