friend AWOL in Amsterdam, due to fly back soon.

So... Any conclusion to this story?

Did he turn up?
Did you stay in the Dam, or head back without him?
What did you do with his stuff?

Closure is needed! :D

Guy probably got mugged, stabbed and killed and now the OP feels like a complete douche for going off on a rant when the guy was in trouble.

Seriously, even a fully grown brick **** house of a man on his own in Amsterdam isn't a good thing. Two of my friends who've visited Amsterdam both got mugged in alleyways when they were separated from their group of friends. Neither of them are weedy or fluffy looking fellas.

Perhaps you should be a little more concerned and a little less dismissive. So he borrowed the card, big deal, perhaps he just went to pop out and was planning on coming back within the hour. But he didn't? I wouldn't be angry, I'd be concerned. I guess that's the kind of friend I am though.

My mate went to Amsterdam with his girlfriend last year, it was a bit of a traumatic time, he had been out on the Saturday before he went (2 days before) with his mate, who was killed when they were out on their motorbikes.

Regardless, he went anyway as he didnt want to let his girlfriend down, they were staying right at the train station near the red light district, his girlfriend was tired, at 10pm he went out for a few drinks, he went into a bar, then the next thing he knew he was walking about 5 miles away from where he was, his feet all blistered, and it was 6am.

To this day he still has no idea what happened, he presumes someone slipped something in his drink, or he took something by his own accord, but has no recollection of it.

Anyway, time can go missing easily in Amsterdam!

You dont borrow someones debit card, you steal someones debit card.

48 hours on and I bet Stumpy is shacked up with some bird of ill repute. Either that or he's swimming across the Noth Sea.

I went to amstedam awhile ago and its not the kind of place you wanna get lost in. Theres a lot of crime and street gangs there so you really need to be street smart and know the parts of town you dont go. Wasted tourists are easy targets for these gangs, i only went for a day and there was a big group of us so we was pretty safe, but i would be worried about him even more so if he was on his own.

Saying that things might have changed since i was there it was awhile ago.

I've been over there a good few times now and have quite happily wandered around in a bit of a state.

Talk about over reaction....

What are you guys going on about.. I've been a few times and wondered about by myself, never had any problems what so ever. Sure there are some dealers offering you things here and there but you just say no thanks and walk on, or simply ignore them completely.
