HTC Desire? Or Samsung Galaxy S?

I have a Galaxy and had to make the same decision.

It was the screen that swung it for me (with the Desire now being SLCD).

Personally if I were buying now I would wait and have a look at the Desire HD.

I think I agree with you.

After very nearly pulling the trigger on the Galaxy S last night, I have also decided to wait and see what the Desire HD is like in the flesh.

The screen on the Galaxy S is just fantastic though, and it is a real pity HTC didn't spec the Desire HD with a super amoled screen.

OK, I'll hold out.

When's the release of the Desire HD? Because I don't want to get into a waiting game :)
Buying on launch when you know that you're paying a premium sucks. Especially when you're in a 24 month contract..

I'm torn between these two phones at the moment, sadly my old N95 is virtually dead so I really need to upgrade now. Anyone know what the release date for the Desire HD is or when it'll be on Vodafone?

Yeh was going to say the HTC Desire has dropped in price recently due to the new announcements making the Galaxy S a better choice for now whilst that holds its value a bit more. I had the Desire and main things that were better was the software support both official and unofficial and having an led for the camera, although it is single led so that means the light is not equal when taking a photo. Everything else the Galaxy S is better. But yeh look at the Desire HD too.

The HD will be more money though, no? I'd expect it to come in at another £5 a month at least.

Yeah it will be more pricey and just when the Galaxy S deals are coming down in the price... There's always something around the corner coming out; it does get very annoying.

Well the Galaxy S i order will cost me £360 over £18 (£20 + free phone).

The Desire HD would cost around £720 (quick search - free phone 18m at £40)

So price wise there not even in the same league. So the fact that there similar in performance (at least as far as we can tell at the minute) makes it an easy decision for me at least.

I was still tempted by the Desire HD mind, and i'm sure a lot of people will go for it. But i'm going to wait till the performance takes a bigger step up before paying that kind of money out on the latest mobile phone offering.
