Right after careful thinking and debating I think I'm going to scrap the idea of getting an iMac just simply because I can't justify spending all that money when I can build a much better spec'ed machine for probably about £400-£500 cheaper as you will all probably agree.

I'm looking at basically getting everything I need excluding O/S & Peripherals.

I will need a monitor however and would prefer to go down the Intel route with regards to processor. Baring in mind I don't think I will be Overclocking it...well not straight away anyway.

Main uses of PC : Little bit of Gaming, Browsing the net, Listening to Music, Doing Uni work so the likes of Office and maybe a little bit of Adobe, Watching HD video and possibly a bit of Graphics rendering and Programming.

Chears lads.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-212-CM&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=29 on special offer till wednesday.

Im also wondering if it wouldnt be rude not to spec a modular psu, to help keep the build tidy.

^ a 690 II variant for your budget

also get a PSU bigger than the CX400, ideally you'd want at least a 550w to be on the safe side and give you room to upgrade the graphics card

I'd say the CX400 would probably be enough for that build as Corsair PSUs tend to give quite a bit of power for their listed wattage, compared to some of the lesser brands.

The build above looks more-or-less ideal for your budget and requirements, but I would swap out the GTX 460 768MB for the 1GB version- there's quite a big performance gap (particularly as many top games assume your graphics card has 1GB of memory now) and the 1GB version is excellent value for money. Don't get the Pallit one though, I hear their method of cooling is substandard.

Hi. I did try and get this on finance however after a few issues I've decided to just pay it off straight away.

However, I did notice that a few of the components on there where 'Week Only' offers and therefore may have stopped by the time I come to order it on Tuesday night.

Could anyone create a new spec for me including offers which will still apply on Tuesday.

Thanks
Tom.

I had the same issue yesterday mate. Phone up the OcUK team and tell them about it. I was immediately offered all of my setup on this weeks prices.
