Have ended up keeping my MG longer than originally planned but not sure I relish the fact of keeping it over the winter much and can't afford at the moment to jump straight into what I really want so am looking for an interim drive for the next 6-9 months or so.

Something like
2+2, coupe / hatch possibly small saloon
Reasonably sporty
Around 2/3 years old
30+ mpg - not a diesel
Less than 50k miles
Not gonna lose me a small fortune in depreciation
Reliable, comfortable,
Don't mind if auto or manual

Had an ST Focus before so probably not up for another one plus mpg is shocking. Maybe a Golf ? hmm

Budget is around 10k..

Thanks in advance :)

Pete

It’s going to be hard to fill all those criteria. You’re only really looking at hot hatches. Any coupe you look at is either going to older or a Hyundai. You could get a 225 but I’m not sure I’d call them reliable. The most reliable of the hot hatches would be the ST, but you’re already had one. A golf (GTI) is either going to cost to much or be older. Maybe a Leon might be worth a shot?

Why spend so much on a car to get You through a single winter?

I could get a cheaper runner I suppose and make one bigger jump but I thought doing it in a couple of steps might not cost too much more. Depends on the car I suppose..

Because this is Sneaky, he spends silly amounts on cars he doesn't keep :D

Scooby - those days are well and truly gone mate I'm afraid :o

I know you said 2/3 years old, but if you'd consider an older car for that sort of money you'd get a nice BMW Coupe or a MB CLK - which is where my £10k would go.

Other that why not something like a Cooper S?

Should holds its money ok.

Hmm, Cooper S is a good shout, what are they like comfort wise though ?

Off for a PH lookie..

I had an 08 Cooper S Auto for a few weeks, and I loved it

Engine is smooth, powerful and quiet - this was the newer 1.6 Turbo engine.

Not sure if you can buy one of the newer ones for your budget, but comfort wise they're fairly comfortable.

They do incite you into driving like a hooligan though, with its great handling.
