Hiya, I know it will have been asked a bazzillion times before but Im currently looking for a car (since my bike was 'taken' off the road).

Because of the insurance its looking like Ill have a bit more money to play with, previously looking at mx 5s and 200sxs but now looking more at s2000's elises and 350z's (I am aware they are two distinct types of car sports and sports touring). My question is who do you use if your younger and want to insure a performance car (21 years old) I just cant stomach the idea of paying nearly 2.3 k on the s2000 and elise, (the 350z is only a grand to insure)

any advice would be appreciated :)

A grand for a 350z at your age is good.

Ive just my renewal for my DC5 and it's 900 and im not happy. It seems insurance is on the up.

thats with a non fault claim which really bumps it up, (1.2k) insurance certainly is on the up, looking at paying 2/3rds more than last year on everything

Try the Admiral Group, my son found them cheapest.

Go through, Bell, Elephant, Admiral and see what sort of quotes you get, I was getting £100 higher on Bell than I was on Elephant for the 318iS.

Also try the specialist insurers, Adrian Flux etc. Check on the owners forums what ties there are with insurance companies, even if you can't get a discount (most owners clubs do have discounts) it should give you and idea as to who is cheap.

I insure a bmw 323ci for £2100 fully comp with bell. Thats with me as main driver (18m) and parents as named drivers I have one year no claims. I think thats pretty good as some of my friends are paying £1500 for fiestas 1.2 with a year no claims. The admiral group seem the cheapest.

Admiral multicar for the past 2 sets of insurance. Insuring both my Impreza STi and my 306 DTurbo for cheaper than I would for just the Impreza anywhere else. Including Admiral single policy.

only got one car :( my mums renewal isnt till march so not much chance of us sharing, the quotes I mentioned are with elephant and admiral rob the cheapest i could find.

You are adding mum and dad as named drivers, yeah?

It's likely they will be the cheapest I think...when insuring the e36 everyone I phoned said 'well its a BMW see, so its expensive to insure' and gave me quotes of £1500+. Elephant gave me £500. :D

Forget S2000s at your age. Quite a few insurers have decided to not insure S2000s this year. Chris Knott is a good example. Most users on the S2Ki forums used Chris Knott but they are refusing new policies. I'm 32 with full NCB and I'm paying just under £700 with Sky Insurance when I used the comparison sites not one came under £1200. Too many people are stacking them.

not really that partial to fraud :P Might just go for a cheaper option, the problem is I cant think of any other rwd light sports cars (excluding the mr2) that are around 5k area

Admiral group have always been kind to me, but defo try the specialists, Adrian Flux, A-Plan, Sky etc

I did notice when i just renewed my insurance that no-one was interested in beating any one elses quotes :( was a case of "well we can't beat that, bye" so its a bit annoying you can't bounce them off one another like you used to be able too :p
