Air Proxy+13 year old brother=grrrrrr

sorry but you sound like a horrible brother. at least he's not playing gta on his xbox as what that would teach him would be even worse!

he's at school and is learning a new skill. this'll hopefully get his interest in fixing and solving problems and kick start an interest in something new. how horrible are you to try and stop that because he gets around a school proxy. i'd hate to have someone like you on my family.
*yawn*

grow up. he's 13, im 33 and he's visiting sites he shouldn't and hacking others face book accounts. im trying to be responsible for him and also teach him right from wrong.

I think im more annoyed that he can get around the family/parental restrictions i put in place tonight on his new laptop. the school stuff isnt too bad (apart from the facebook hacking).

If he continues to be an arse about it, kill his internet.

well i don't think i'll be able to change your mind and i don't think you'll be able to change mind either. i thought he was year 11 not 13 so makes a small difference but not enough. i don't think what he's doing is wrong at all. i "hacked" into all my friends email accounts and would send emails to their friends etc. nothing wrong with that imo and i only learnt new ways to get into their accounts. i also knew not to hack into the teachers account and didnt need my "dad" to tell me not to do it.

I know where you're coming from. There are sites out there that really shouldn't be viewed by someone that age.

I agree with this.

I'm glad my brother didn't try to police what I did online. Parental controls at 13? dear oh dear, parental controls aren't going to stop your brother becoming a bad adult, so stop getting so worked up about it.

I've been using computers and internet unrestricted since about 9 years old and I turned out fine.

yes of course you did...

I do have one slight thing i didnt offer up at first my little brother has aspergers and very little reguard for authority, hence the slight "policing".

what about using opendns, pretty sure they have a 'whitelist' option and then set up all pc's to go through their dns servers

It's trivial to turn a URL into an IP using web based DNS severs and bypass it all together.

Was your facebook password a simple dictionary word? I remember the limited scope of 13 year old hacking days :p

judging by some of your posts about your involvement with drugs and the police that depends on your definition of the word "fine"

I think there's nothing wrong with a joint or two and the internet has nothing to do with that mate. ;)

He's a teenager, he's becoming independent and being able to differentiate between right and wrong without your brother policing your activities is natural. He should have been taught what's right and wrong long ago, now it's time for him to decide for himself. No amount of internet policing will stop him doing what he wants to do. He's already too clever for that now.

can you brute force facebook

i thought after so many failed attempts it locked you out ?

You can't brute force any decent website, even if they had the actual database containing the user names and hashes they wouldn't be able to brute force it because they use a salt to prevent the use of rainbow tables. The story doesn't add up.

He even showed me he knew my facebook log in as there are password crunching websites out there that produce passwords by putting names in it.

Sorry but there's no way in hell he could brute force your fb password without A) paying money B) your account being blocked/taking years to do it.

i can only assume he's brute force'd some other password such as the one on the router or maybe a windows password or something and the OP uses the same password for everything and thus his brother now has his FB password.
