The Unofficial Fallout 3 Thread

If the data file is kept smaller this is supposed to give some relief, as is signing out of psn as the alerts can cause problems as well. Its not guaranteed to work, but some have had success, others havent.

Just deleted the game data file which was a whopping 6GB, I'll give it a try tomorrow and see if I notice any more slowdown. :)

Deleting the game data does help for some time until it all rakes up again and you have to repeat :)

I didn't experience any problems until after the main storyline and past lvl 20, doing broken steel quests. And I had completed all the other expansions before that.

Ahh right, I'm only level 12 at the moment. The main quest has been okay fps wise so far, but I experienced massive slowdowns when I completed Mothership Zeta and Anchorage. Zeta slowed down to single frames per second at parts, it was like watching a slideshow.

A bit late to the scene but just bought this game 2 days ago along with all the dlc. Why do those protection bots attack me in the wasteland? I thought they were there to protect you :(

You are probably near a certain warehouse/factory, in which case, they will attack you. Some bot's are the radio station bots, they should not attack you.

Which bot's and location please?

Im out in the open wasteland. Can't find any buildings. The location is around 50 yards south-west of bigtown (place being attacked by super mutants)

If you're talking about Protectron's then they are one of the standard enemies that you fight in this game. Their name just hints at their previous role before the bombs dropped. There are friendly Protectron's in this game, but they will only be in certain quests, or possibly one of the random encounters.

Finally finished the main game on this lastnight, was angry at Reach and wanted something single player to play.

Judging by my acheivement history I hadnt played the game for over a year, then I tore through the last 4 or 5 parts of the main quest.

Im tempted to buy Broken Steel for 400 points and then finish off as much as I can of the side quests and mess around but even at level 19 most enemies are too week to even worry about.

New Vagas is due soon as well so maybe i'll just wait for that instead.

Is broken steel worth 400 points?

I think you do. As you kill or anger some people who would do you favours later on in the story.
Unless I misunderstand and you mean the story is different, then yes :p

How far into it are you? Also of course depends if you want to do side quests.

Just made the dart gun \:D/
Does the amount of bad karma effect you in terms of story?

Not massively, there are some dialogue changes depending on what you've done and karma levels and certain quests etc, bad karma also opens up the Paradise Falls missions which are fun and horribly disturbing at the same time, however karma has no effect on the course of the main storyline.

I just finished the quest for galaxy radio station. Arrived at rivet city.

Yea i wondered into paradise city yesterday. Karma level was at the devil stage IIRC but i couldn't go along with their evil plans so i killed everyone, stole their money/weapons and let the slaves go.
Can i still use their mezotizer (sp) weapon and collars?
I practically hack into every safe/computer i can find and take anything of value from them. Need the money to repair my guns and crap :(

If you want to remain with your Good Karma you can pay your way into Paradise Falls for no Karma loss too. Pretty handy if you want the "good" ending. :)

I know im a couple of years out of date, I cant believe I have missed out on this until now. Just bought the game from the MM here and its fantastic. Just got out of Vault 101 and spent the next 30 mins looking around, what an atmosphere.

You know you are into something special when you only intend to play for 30 mins or so, you end up playing for 3 hours without realising.

That's exactly how it was for me when I did my first playthrough. Epic game, one of my all time favourites of this generation.

I never usually like FPS RPG's, but there is something about this I like. Just cant wait to finish work and get back into it. Its been a while since a game has done that.

Yes I'm bumping the thread. :p

Anyone know where I can buy Railway Spikes? Built the Railway Rifle and thought that my 200 spikes would have been enough but apparently not! I'm just in the middle of a quest at the moment but plan to go and replenish my spikes after I'm done. I know you can sometimes find them outside railway stations and in the metro tunnels but that's a little hit and miss. I was hoping one of the merchants would trade me some. I'm planning on getting the second schematic from Abraham Washington too as the condition of mine is pretty dire. It's a monster for killing limbs and getting criticals though, most headshots in V.A.T.S result in the head being blown off and stuck to whatever the spike lands on. :)

I planned on doing the karma related achievements in one playthrough but that idea went right out the window about 5 levels ago. :p
